For 86 days, the Ukrainian military heroically defended the "Azovstal" plant in Mariupol, which is now occupied by the russian army. After that, the word "steel" became one of the symbols of Ukrainian indomitability in the war with russia. We are talking about objects in Ukraine and the world that were made of real Ukrainian steel.

St. George's Bridge in Genoa (Italy)

For the construction of this bridge, 18.5 thousand tons of steel were used, which is 95% of the total volume of steel structures of the building. Steel semifinished products were produced at the "Azovstal" plant in Mariupol, and high-strength rolled products - at the Italian Trametal plant in San Giorgio di Nogaro.

The bridge was built in a year and opened in the summer of 2020. St. George's Bridge was built to replace the old Morandi reinforced concrete bridge, which collapsed in August 2018 after a heavy downpour. So the new bridge had to be extremely strong so as not to repeat the fate of its predecessor.

This is a modern ship that recreates the old atmosphere of France II, a five-masted barque of 1911. It was built in two years at the Croatian shipyard Brodosplit. 90% of the ship is made of steel, and three out of four and a half tons of steel is of Ukrainian production. The steel for the construction of the ship was produced in Mariupol at the "Azovstal" and Mariupol Metallurgical Plant named after Ilyich, and traveled almost three thousand kilometers by sea.

The metal arch over the destroyed reactor of the Chornobyl NPP became the world's largest mobile metal structure. For the construction of this sarcophagus at "Azovstal" in Mariupol, special high-strength steel was developed, which can withstand the harshest operating conditions. Out of more than 25,000 tons of steel structures, 2,000 tons of steel sheets were produced at "Azovstal".

In 2011, the sports complex was reconstructed for the Euro-2012 football championship. During the last reconstruction of the main sports and cultural arena of Ukraine, more than 1,700 tons of steel were used. These are mainly rebars produced by Mariupol Metallurgical Plant named after Ilyich and "Azovstal".

During the construction of the Darnytsky Bridge, 78,000 tons of metal structures were installed, including 5,500 tons of rolled metal from the Mariupol plant "Azovstal".

The ship was built in Turkey for the Navy of Ukraine, "Hetman Ivan Mazepa" was launched in Istanbul in the fall of 2022. Construction of the ship began in September 2021, just six months before the metallurgical plants that produced raw materials for it stopped working. The metal from which the hull of the ship is made is also steel produced by Mariupol Metallurgical Plant named after Ilyich and "Azovstal".
