The Polish Central Statistical Office has released information on the level of wages in different cities of the country. To obtain objective data, the government agency analyzed companies with more than 10 employees.

Which cities in Poland earn the most?

The top three cities are Krakow, Warsaw and Gdansk. Warsaw was not the city with the highest level of remuneration for work. The average salary in the capital is 44 zlotys less than in Krakow. Only these three cities provide an opportunity to earn more than PLN 8000 per month.

Katowice, Poznan, and Wrocław are next in the ranking. In 2022, the average salary after all deductions is 7500 PLN per month. In other large cities, the salary level is lower.

If we analyze by region, the leader is the Mazovian Voivodeship. It is followed by Lower Silesia and Lesser Poland. Residents of the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship earn the least.

It should be added that the minimum wage from 2023 will be PLN 2709 after deduction of contributions and taxes. From June 1, the amount will increase to PLN 2784.

In which areas are the highest salaries?

In Poland, the highest salaries are paid to employees of the IT industry - the average remuneration is twice as high as in other industries. In particular, Krakow is home to many IT corporations, tech startups, and innovative companies, which has led to a high level of income.

The impact of the war in Ukraine on the labor market in Poland

Ukrainians who arrived in Poland after the outbreak of the war are actively looking for work in various industries, thus filling the shortage of workers. Warsaw hosted the most refugees, so employment in the region increased by 27 thousand people. In Krakow, the number of employees increased by 9.5 thousand.

It should be added that 80% of refugees are highly skilled workers. Previously, Ukrainians were mostly employed as laborers, but now they are also taking office positions. In addition, over the past six months, up to 10 thousand Ukrainian businesses have entered Poland and are eager to hire their countrymen.

The difference between salaries in Poland and Ukraine

This month, analysts investigated the difference between salaries for the most popular vacancies. It is noteworthy that there are professions for which the pay is radically different. For example, sales managers in Ukraine receive an average of UAH 15 thousand, while in Poland they earn UAH 92 thousand. The situation is the same with accountants, who can earn UAH 53 thousand in Poland and UAH 15 thousand in Ukraine.
