Earlier, the Swedish government adopted the Directive on Temporary Protection for Ukrainians Affected by the War in their Homeland. In order to extend your stay in Sweden, you had to submit documents for consideration in time. In this article, we will tell you what to do if you did not submit your documents for the extension of temporary protection in Sweden within the specified time limit.

What to do if you missed the deadline for applying for an extension of temporary protection?

If you have not applied for an extension of your residence permit in Sweden by March 4, you will have to re-apply for temporary protection, financial support and housing.

How do I re-apply for temporary protection in Sweden?

The first option is to apply through the electronic service you used to submit your first application for temporary protection.

• The second option is a personal visit to the Migration Agency.

Keep in mind that the application must be submitted as soon as possible

How can I confirm that my application for temporary protection was submitted on time?

Immediately after submitting your documents, you should have received an email stating that you submitted your application on time. Also in this letter, you can find a control number, which you can use to track the decision on your application.

Please note that each person on whose behalf you submitted your application will also receive a corresponding email.

In addition to personal information, the letter states that until the decision on your application is made, you retain the right to housing and financial support.

We remind you! Sweden provides refugees with temporary protection: housing, benefits, access to work and healthcare. Read what you need to know about the rules of moving to Sweden in our article.
