Germany has become the worst country for foreign nationals coming there to work. We tell you what problems expats face in that country.

In a study conducted by the InterNations team, analysts asked expat respondents to rate the country of their temporary stay according to how easy it was to settle in. In particular, the questions were related to finding housing, bureaucracy and language.

It turned out that nearly one in six of those surveyed thought it was difficult to find housing in Germany, while more than half thought it was difficult to afford it.

According to one expat, it can take up to three months to find temporary housing in this country.

The fact is that Germany has a very high percentage of renters, and only 50 percent of Germans own their own homes. Therefore, the rental market can be very competitive, especially in the major cities of the country. However, foreigners will have to provide proof of income and a credit report if they plan to apply for a rental property.

In terms of language, Germany has also lost ground in this ranking, as almost half of the migrants believe that it is difficult to live in this country without knowledge of the state language. Also more than half of the respondents say that this language is difficult to learn.

In addition, more than 50% of foreigners complain about the problem of bureaucracy in Germany. Such people often encounter difficulties in communicating with local authorities. At the same time, many documents in Germany continue to be processed on paper rather than digitally, which affects the speed of resolving issues.

As is known, there were 900,000 Ukrainian refugees living in Germany as of the beginning of this year.

The complete list of the worst countries for expats looks like this:

  1. Germany
  2. Japan
  3. China
  4. Kuwait
  5. Italy
  6. Greece
  7. Vietnam
  8. Czech Republic
  9. France
  10. Malta

Reminder! Since the beginning of the full-scale war, about 1 million Ukrainian citizens have arrived in Germany. In connection with this, the German federal states are overcrowded with refugees and most of them do not accept the newly arrived Ukrainians. Whether the authorities plan to solve this problem, read in our article.
