In the Slovenian capital, Ljubljana, fares on public transport are paid for using the Urbana electronic smart card. It became known that the country continued to provide free fare for Ukrainians
There are still countries in Europe that allow refugees from Ukraine to use public transportation for free, and Slovenia is one of them. Recently, the Embassy of Ukraine in Slovenia and LPP Ljubljana announced that the country continues free travel in Ljubljana.
Please note: The fare exemption in the Slovenian capital will remain in effect until March 4, 2024. The exemption does not apply to commuter services.
Changes in travel regulations
Refugees from Ukraine must apply for an Urbana ID card - only this will entitle them to free travel. Contact the Potnicki center LPP, Slovenska cesta 56, to obtain this card.
A personal card will be issued to refugees who have one of these documents:
- a Temporary Protection Card ("iskaznitsa");
- a decision on temporary protection and an identity document;
- decision on refugee status and an identity document.
Since April of this year, free travel without an Urbana card is prohibited. We emphasize that the card you receive must be validated every time you use transportation.
