The Latvian government is preparing to extend the period of assistance to refugees from Ukraine. In particular, it is planned to extend the initial assistance and compensation for the resettlement of refugees who fled Ukraine until the end of 2023. This is reported by Delfi.
Currently, state support is valid until June 30.
A bill to support Ukrainian refugees in Latvia until the end of the year was submitted to the Seimas. In order to provide accommodation and food for Ukrainian residents in Latvia until December 31, it is proposed to extend the existing support measures.
As the fighting in Ukraine continues, NGOs insist on the need to continue supporting Ukrainians.

What can refugees from Ukraine expect in Latvia?
Ukrainians can receive free accommodation in Latvia for up to 120 days, regardless of the date of their arrival after February 24, 2022.
In addition, in April, the Latvian government approved a change in the rules for the education of Ukrainian refugee children. Schools will now be able to provide children with individualized learning plans to help them better master the educational material in Latvian in grades 1-8, as well as in vocational training programs from 1 to 3 years.
