According to a report by the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Ukrainian troops have advanced to a depth of about 3 kilometers in southern Ukraine, and are making progress in the western part of Donetsk region and the eastern part of Zaporizhzhia region. Bloggers and media personalities in russia have also begun to report massively on the failures of the russian army at the front and the successful counteroffensive of the Ukrainian army. At the same time, the Ukrainian government has not confirmed the launch of a counteroffensive to liberate the occupied territories.

Let's find out what's really happening at the front, whether the Ukrainian Armed Forces have launched an offensive, and how the Kakhovka Dam disaster affected Ukraine's plans.

What do the occupying authorities and russian analysts say about the beginning of the Ukrainian counteroffensive?

The russian Ministry of Defense does not recognize any defeats at the front and claims that Ukraine "tried" to launch a large-scale offensive, but the russian army broke all battalion groups and destroyed Ukrainian equipment. However, they did not provide any evidence of either the offensive or the destruction of equipment.

At the same time, russian military bloggers reported the loss of control over several settlements in the Bakhmut and Zaporizhzhia districts. In particular, these are Berkhivka in the Donetsk region, Novodarivka, Levadne and Neskuchne in the Zaporizhzhia region.

Opinion of international analysts

Western analysts confirm the beginning of the advance of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in certain areas of the front. In addition, the vast majority of experts noted that in their opinion, the Ukrainian counteroffensive began several weeks ago with the destruction of enemy rear depots and massive shelling of russian positions in various directions, including near Soledar and Bakhmut, as well as in the area of Novodarivka.

At the same time, none of them expresses confidence in how events will develop. There are various options in the information field, ranging from the start of distraction maneuvers for a large-scale offensive along the entire frontline to a series of strikes to find a weakness in the defense and then strike that area.

What do the Ukrainian authorities say about the beginning of the Ukrainian counteroffensive?

Ukrainian authorities have not commented on the start of the offensive, as on June 4, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine published a video on its telegram channel stating that the plans are silent and there will be no announcement of the start.

However, the daily reports repeatedly published data on the success of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in certain areas of the front. It is possible that it was about reconnaissance by combat. We wrote about what Ukrainians would consider a victory here.

How did the Kakhovka Dam explosion affect Ukraine's offensive?

The insidious russian terrorist attack against humanity and the environment, which was planned to stop Ukraine's counteroffensive, has no significant impact on the deployment of the operation to liberate the occupied territories. After all, even before this terrible tragedy, the Ukrainian Armed Forces did not aim to cross the Dnipro River as a major strike against the enemy.

According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukraine took into account that russia could resort to blowing up the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant, and therefore actively called on the world to stop the kremlin and prevent a terrible catastrophe. However, putin does not care about civilian casualties or the losses of his own army.

According to other representatives of the Ukrainian authorities, russia resorted to an unprecedented terrorist attack because it could no longer wait in suspense for a counteroffensive by the Ukrainian army and could not find another way to divert the world's attention from the events in the Belgorod region.

We wrote more about why putin gave this horrific order here

Therefore, we expect a fair reaction from world leaders to the actions of the terrorist country and a decisive response to the crimes committed, the scale of which will affect the entire planet.

Ukraine will liberate the world from the invasive clutches of russia and ensure peace throughout the country!

Glory to the Armed Forces of Ukraine!

We remind you, the events in the Belgorod region have caused many resonant reactions, both among Ukrainians and the world community. Read about the history and motivation of the russian Freedom Legion and the russian Volunteer Corps in our previous article.
