The future of international travel promises to be exciting and sustainable, with a number of new long-distance high-speed trains set to launch in 2024. Find out about 3 of the most anticipated international trains in Europe, which will be launched next year
Environmental awareness and the desire to reduce carbon emissions are becoming important factors in modern international travel in Europe. Passengers are increasingly choosing trains over airplanes in the hope of contributing to environmental preservation.
In this regard, several long-distance international trains are expected to be launched on the continent in 2024, connecting popular European cities in different countries.
Here are three of the most anticipated trains that will unite countries and allow passengers to enjoy a magical European journey while minimizing their environmental impact.
New trains in Europe
Over the past few years, Europe has been actively involved in popularizing train travel, as this mode of transportation is much more environmentally friendly than airplanes.
Thus, 1 year ago, it became known that the European Telecommunications Operator was developing a trans-European network of night trains on 40 international long-distance routes, and by 2030 it was supposed to connect more than 200 cities across Europe.
In addition, various European countries are starting to offer unified rail tickets in their regions. It is noteworthy that such a plan has already been in place in Germany since 2023-5. Similar plans were announced in France and Portugal.
At the same time, Greenpeace experts said that travelers are reluctant to switch from airplanes to trains because flying is much cheaper in Europe.

International trains to be launched next year
Paris - Berlin
For the first time in nine years, the capitals of France and Germany will be connected by high-speed night trains without transfers and stops at intermediate stations. These new routes will bring convenience and comfort to passengers and contribute to sustainable and environmentally friendly mobility in central Europe.
The route, planned by NightJet, a sleeper subsidiary of Austrian national railroad ÖBB, will be a dream come true for travelers between Paris and Berlin.
The train will depart from Gare de l'Est in Paris at 19:12 and arrive in Berlin at 8:26 the next day. The train will depart back from Berlin at 20:18 and reach Gare de l'Est in Paris at 10:24 the next morning.
At the beginning of operation, the train will run three times a week, and from the fall - daily. Tickets will be available from 50 euros.
Paris - Madrid
The capitals of France and Spain will finally be connected by direct rail service. The Red Arrow train, which already serves Paris, Lyon, Turin, and Milan, will get a big boost from the Italian company Trenitalia, which plans to launch its famous trains on this route.
The Frecciarossa train, which can reach speeds of up to 400 kilometers per hour, is already one of the most popular in Europe.
The route is expected to be available by the end of 2024, with ticket prices starting at $30, making it affordable for many travelers.
Brussels - Prague
Another important development is the expansion of the Brussels to Berlin route by European Sleeper.
This network of rail connections will connect the capitals of Belgium and the Czech Republic, passing through Antwerp (Belgium), Rotterdam and Amsterdam (Netherlands), as well as Berlin and Dresden (Germany).
It is planned to launch this route in 2024 with one flight per day. The exact ticket prices are not yet known, but this could be an important connection for passengers traveling between these countries.
These new rail routes open the door to more convenient and environmentally friendly travel between European capitals. They will help to reduce the burden on air transport and contribute to the preservation of the environment.
Get ready for convenient and exciting travel between European capitals in the near future and remember that safety and confidence when traveling abroad is the key to a pleasant experience and unforgettable moments.
