Bad weather is affecting road conditions across the country. Many regions are covered with thick snow cover, which affects traffic and forces emergency road clearing measures. Find out more about the situation on the roads by region
As of today, a large number of roads in Ukraine are covered with snow. According to Mustafa Nayem, head of the State Agency for Infrastructure Restoration and Development, on Telegram, the most snow fell overnight on the roads of Odesa region (70-200 cm) and Mykolaiv region (up to 60 cm).
In the north of Ukraine, the snow cover is 20-30 cm thick, and in the west and center - 10 cm.
Here's a look at the current situation on the roads and which regions are most affected by the weather.
Weather in Ukraine: what is the situation on the roads by region?
"More and more roads are covered with snow. We have heavy snow and wind gusts of up to 30 m/s. As a result, snowdrifts up to 1.5 meters high are forming on the roads. Due to the abnormal amount of snow and strong wind gusts, traffic in Odesa region is very difficult in 14 areas. As many as 315 vehicles got stuck in snowdrifts. In Mykolaiv region, there are 4 difficult sections, with 7 vehicles stuck in the snow. In Kirovograd region, there are 3 sections with 60 vehicles stuck in snowdrifts. Strong winds are preventing the roads from being cleared promptly, despite the involvement of additional equipment," Nayem wrote.
He also said that as of 7:30 a.m. on November 27, 1273 vehicles and 1438 workers were working on the roads. Over the past day, 25.5 tons of sand and salt mixture and 343 tons of pure salt have already been used.
Nayem emphasized that the Recovery Agency has a round-the-clock operational headquarters and a hotline: +38 067 400 60 80.
Which roads in Ukraine are currently subject to traffic restrictions?
Due to heavy snowfall in Odesa Oblast, traffic has been blocked for all vehicles on state roads since Sunday, November 26:

Snow drifts in Odesa region: what is known
"The weather situation has improved slightly. It stopped snowing after 2 a.m., which allowed us to increase the number of working equipment on the blocked roads. Currently, the Odesa-Reni, Odesa-Kuchurhan and Odesa-Kyiv roads are closed. The situation is difficult. In some areas, the road is covered with snow above two meters. Nevertheless, the equipment is being actively used," said Oleh Kiper, Head of the Odesa Regional Road Administration, during the telethon.
According to him, vehicles stuck on the Odesa-Kyiv highway are being helped by equipment from both sides. They also managed to free the people who remained in the buses stuck in the snow drifts. They were provided with hot food and tea and transported to the nearest settlements where they can stay and warm up.
The head of Odesa Regional State Administration added that as of 6 am, there was no power supply in about 340 settlements in Odesa region.
"Now the wind is a bit calmer and all services can work. Over the last two hours we have restored power supply in twenty settlements," he added.
Kiper noted that schools and kindergartens are working remotely today, and residents were urged to stay away from the streets. Electricians' teams are continuing to repair the damage.
