Ukrainians continue to vacation and travel despite the war and all the threats. Find out what kind of vacation the majority of the Ukrainian population chooses and what kind of travel is most approved by society
Despite the war, constant threats and challenges, Ukrainians continue to travel. At the same time, a new Gradus survey for Ribas Hotels Group has shown that the vast majority of citizens have a positive attitude towards vacations in Ukraine, even in times of war.
How and where Ukrainians are vacationing in the face of a full-scale invasion is described in the article below.
How many Ukrainians support traveling during the war?
According to the survey, the vast majority of Ukrainians have a positive attitude towards vacations under martial law. At the same time, 78% of respondents chose to vacation in Ukraine, while 56% supported vacationing abroad. At the same time, 80% of respondents said that their last vacation was spent in Ukraine, and over the past 3 years (i.e., taking into account peacetime), 49% of respondents have vacationed exclusively in Ukraine.
In the next 3 months, 32% of respondents plan to spend their vacation at home, 30% - outside their hometown but in Ukraine, and 38% - do not plan to take a vacation at all.
How do Ukrainians spend their vacations during the war?
For 70-75% of Ukrainians, vacation is a relaxing period that involves walking and recreation. At the same time, the most popular activities while traveling are hiking, visiting restaurants, as well as excursions and memorable places.
At the same time, family hotels, apartments, and cottages (remote from cities, for example, in forests or mountains) are the most popular places to stay among Ukrainians surveyed. The greatest demand was recorded for vacations in the Carpathians. Read here how much a trip to the mountains costs now.
Ukrainians are also attracted to winter vacations at ski resorts in Poland.

Why do Ukrainians refrain from traveling?
Despite the fact that Ukrainians are trying to find the time, energy and means to travel around Ukraine during the war, the survey results showed that there are still a lot of deterrents. These include:
- lack of mood;
- Increased cost of recreation and lack of funds for it;
- concerns about traveling around the country.
All these factors are quite understandable and obvious when the country is at war, but Visit Ukraine knows how to help in this situation. Read how to save money on a trip to the mountains and where to spend the New Year holidays safely and without curfews in our previous articles.
