Some of the things that you may often need during the Christmas and New Year holidays cannot be checked in your luggage and taken on board the plane. Find out what prohibited items we are talking about, so you don't lose a precious gift to a loved one at the airport
This year, as usual, airports are expected to see a large influx of passengers traveling on vacation for the Christmas holidays. And in the rush and bustle, bottles of whiskey are likely to be forgotten, perfumes thrown away, and gifts in holiday wrapping confiscated by security personnel. Given these circumstances, Ryanair, a popular low-cost airline, has reminded passengers of the list of holiday attributes that should never be checked in or taken on board the plane in anticipation of the Christmas and New Year holidays and long-awaited vacations.
What you can and can't take on the plane to get through security at European airports quickly and easily this Christmas is described below.
A reminder from Ryanair: what is forbidden to take on the plane?
Under no circumstances should you take toys that look like weapons in your hand luggage. These can be toy or water pistols, slingshots, darts, sports bats, etc.
At the same time, it is strictly forbidden to take poppers, sparklers, fireworks or Christmas crackers with you (either as baggage or on board the aircraft), as these are explosive and flammable items that can pose a threat to the health of passengers and crew, as well as to the safety of the aircraft.
Also, do not try to take gifts in holiday wrapping in your hand luggage, as they will most likely be opened and checked by security at the airport. If it is still necessary, take the gift wrapping with you, but separately, and wrap the gift upon arrival, or put it in your checked baggage.
And, of course, when buying cosmetics or alcohol as a gift, remember the standard restrictions on the transportation of liquids in hand luggage (no more than 100 ml, the container must be packed in a transparent bag with a clasp, with a volume of no more than 1 liter). At the same time, you can put liquids of any volume in your checked baggage.

Where should I put expensive and fragile gifts: baggage or hand luggage?
The airline does not recommend checking in expensive gifts (watches, jewelry, limited edition figurines, etc.). If they are damaged, lost or stolen, you will not receive compensation for them. Therefore, it is better to take them on board the plane in your hand luggage so that they can be under your constant supervision.
As for fragile gifts, for example, made of glass or ceramics, they should be wrapped in bubble wrap and covered with a soft/tight garment and placed carefully in your luggage so that they do not get damaged during transportation. It is better to transport such items in checked baggage.
If you decide to travel abroad for the New Year's holidays, don't forget about an integral part of your trip - an insurance policy. In the event of unforeseen circumstances, insurance will provide you with substantial support, whether it is illness or other unexpected situations in another country.
