Ukrainian refugee assistance centers in Prague are preparing to make significant changes to their operations, and this will be an important step in overcoming the challenges of providing support to those in difficult situations.

According to proukrainu.blesk.cz, some of the aid organizations are planning to close their doors in the near future.

We will tell you how the work of the centers for Ukrainians will change in 2024 in the article.

Most will close: the work of refugee centers in Prague will be changed

Since the beginning of the conflict in the Czech Republic, several centers for Ukrainians have been established, and among the largest in Prague are Nusle, MRIYA, and Svitlo. These centers act as rallying points for Ukrainians seeking various services and support, as well as for those who wish to volunteer or organize events.

In 2024, changes in the functioning of these refugee centers in Prague are expected to be implemented. According to Halyna Andrejciv, founder of the Prague Maidan NGO and Executive Director of the URC, this periodic reorganization is due to the closure of numerous refugee centers by the end of 2023 or early 2024.

The number of visitors to the Nusle Center is expected to increase, and accordingly, it is planned to strengthen the information center, which will receive the most tasks.

How will the assistance centers in Prague 2024 work?

The Ukrainian Nusle Center at Táborska 500/30, Praha 4 Nusle, will be open on weekdays from 10:00 to 18:00 in 2024.

The recently opened youth space of the Nusle HAB will be open to visitors from Monday to Friday, from 11:00 to 19:00, and on Saturday, from 11:00 to 15:00. The center plans to invite interesting lecturers and teachers, hold adaptation and integration events, and provide consultations.

"We also aim to expand opportunities for working with a psychotherapist for the vulnerable category of adolescents," Nusle representatives added.

The MRIYA Help and Support Center (Novákových 1954/20A, 180 00 Praha 8-Palmovka) will continue its activities in 2024, introducing some innovations to improve its work.

Additional information about the changes will be published on the organization's website and social media pages. The work schedule will be as follows:

From December 25 to January 7, the center will be closed to provide a period of rest and holiday breaks.

Starting January 8, 2024, the center will resume its work according to an updated schedule, which includes the introduction of new modes and opportunities for visitors.

The Svitlo Community Center is going to change its location on the Old Town Square (Staroměstské nám. 1/4, 110 00 Staré Město), in the premises of the Scout Institute building. The working hours will be as follows:

• On weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., providing a wide range of services such as information support, psychological assistance, Czech and English language courses, as well as a children's corner and creative workshops for children.
