There are currently several toll roads in Poland, the cost of which varies depending on the type of vehicle. Find out where toll roads in Poland are located and how to pay for them
Poland is actively repairing and developing transportation routes in the country. And to compensate for the costs and maintenance, some roads are subject to tolls. Currently, out of more than 2000 km of high-speed highways and autobahns, toll roads account for a small percentage, but drivers should definitely know where these sections are located and how to pay for the toll.
What are the signs of toll roads in Poland?
Tolls are provided for on highways, but not all of them. Currently, toll roads are located on the A1, A2, A4 highways. The beginning of a toll road is marked with a special sign.
How do I pay for a toll road in Poland and how much does it cost?
Tolls are paid at special checkpoints at the entrance or exit of the toll road section. It can be either an automated payment system or special "cash desks" with employees. In addition, you can pay for the toll using your own smartphone, for example, through the Autopay (iOS / Android), mPay (iOS / Android) application, etc.
Upon entering a toll road, the driver will receive a special ticket, which must be kept until the end of the trip, because if it is lost, the full fare will be paid, regardless of the actual mileage.
Please note! To travel on the sections maintained by the state (GDDKiA), you need to have an electronic ticket - e-Toll Pl Bilet. This applies to all types of vehicles. You can buy it here. At the same time, the Polish authorities are negotiating with private companies to introduce electronic tickets on all toll roads in the country.
The price of travel can vary from 0.10 to 0.56 zlotys per kilometer. However, the final cost of traveling on these sections will depend on the distance you have traveled and the type of vehicle you are using. On some roads, there are tolls only for trucks.
