On the night of 18-19 May, Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk will take to the ring against British boxer Tyson Fury to fight for the world heavyweight title. We tell you where to watch it, what time it starts, and why it is a historic fight.

The long-awaited fight will take place on 18 May in the Saudi capital, Riyadh. The fight will start around 00:30 (19 May) Kyiv time. The most important heavyweight belts - WBA, WBO, IBF, IBO and WBC - will be at stake.

Before the main event, an undercard featuring 10 fights will take place in Riyadh. Another Ukrainian, Daniel Lapin, will take part in one of them. His opponent will be Portuguese Octavio Pudivitre, and the WBA Continental light heavyweight title will be at stake.

Where will Usyk vs Fury be shown?

The exclusive rights to broadcast the fight in Ukraine belong to the MEGOGO media service. You can watch the fight live with Light, Optimal, Maximum and Sport subscriptions. The broadcast will be available in the Sports section, on the MEGOGO Gong channel, as well as on a separate pop-up channel that will appear on the day of the event.

The match is of historical significance

Preparations for the fight between Usyk and Fury have been going on for a long time. There have been repeated press reports about the possible disruption of the fight due to the inability of the boxers to agree on a date. However, after lengthy negotiations, the promoters were able to find a suitable time to hold the fight.

Initially, the fight was supposed to take place in February this year, but due to an injury sustained by Fury in a fight with former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou, it had to be postponed for 4 months.

The winner of the Usyk-Fury fight will become the first absolute world heavyweight champion in the 21st century. The last "absolute" in the heavyweight division was Lennox Lewis, who won this status in 1999.

What are the forecasts?

According to bookmakers, the "Gypsy King" is considered a slight favourite in the fight, with odds of about 1.93 for his victory. Usyk's victory is estimated at 2.03.

As for expert predictions, such eminent boxers as Mike Tyson and Lennox Lewis believe that Fury will win. However, another heavyweight champion, British boxer Anthony Joshua, whom Usyk has defeated twice, is betting on the Ukrainian.

"I fought with Usyk. I think he's a phenomenal fighter, surrounded by a great team. You're only as good as your team, and he has great professionals around him. After meeting him in the ring and analysing him, I'm still watching him. I think he's the one who can win," - said Joshua.

As you know, 36-year-old Oleksandr Usyk has 21 wins in 21 fights, 14 of which were won by knockout. He fought four fights in the heavyweight division, and before that he became the absolute world champion in the cruiserweight division (weight category up to 90.7 kg), winning all four of the most prestigious belts.

Tyson Fury, 34, has a record of 34 wins, 24 of which were by knockout, and one draw.
