Five Ukrainian villages, namely Vorokhta, Zelenyi Hai, Kvasy, Olyka, and Urych, have applied to participate in a prestigious global tourism competition from the World Tourism Organization. Find out more about whether they will be able to receive the status of “Best Tourist Villages 2024”
The State Agency for Tourism Development has applied to include five Ukrainian villages in the 2024 edition of The Best Tourism Villages network.
Belonging to this prestigious global network provides many benefits for the development of tourism in the region, attracting travelers from all over the world, receiving mentoring support from UN Tourism and even financial assistance from foreign donors for the development of tourism in rural areas.
The Best Tourist Villages competition was launched by UN Tourism in 2021. Since then, 190 tourist villages have joined the network. There are no representatives from Ukraine on the list yet.
Villages that are leaders in rural development and preservation of landscapes, cultural diversity, local values, and culinary traditions can become members of the network.
