After changing your personal data, you should replace your driver's licence and vehicle registration certificate with new documents with up-to-date information. How to replace a driver's licence and vehicle registration certificate in connection with a change of data is described below.

How do I exchange my driving licence if I change my surname?

If you change your personal data, you must submit an application for an exchange of your licence within 10 days.

You can exchange your licence either at a service centre of the Ministry of Internal Affairs or online.

When you visit a service centre in person to change your rights, you must bring the following documents:

● passport of a citizen of Ukraine with data on the registration of the place of residence (if you use an ID card, you should bring a certificate of registered residence);

● TIN;

● a document confirming the change of personal data;

● driver's licence.

To exchange a driver's licence online, you can use the Driver's Electronic Account. To do this, you need to log in to the platform, enter all the data required by the system, and provide scanned copies of documents confirming your identity and changes to your personal data.

There are three ways to get a new licence:

● at any service centre of the Ministry of Internal Affairs;

● at a branch of Ukrposhta;

● using the Ukrposhta courier delivery service. Please note that if you choose this option, you will be charged an additional delivery fee.

The application for replacement of the certificate is usually processed within 2 business days.

The cost of the service is UAH 572. Also, if the new certificate is delivered by courier, logistics costs are additionally paid - about UAH 294.

How can I exchange a car registration certificate if I change my last name?

To exchange a technical passport for a car when changing personal data, you must personally contact the service centre of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, having previously taken the relevant coupon of intention to re-register due to a change of data.

List of required documents

● Passport of a citizen of Ukraine containing data on the registration of the place of residence (if you use an ID card, you should take a certificate of registered residence);

TIN;

● a document confirming the change of personal data;

● technical passport for the car.

Please note! When exchanging the technical passport on the basis of changes in the person's personal data, replacement of number plates or vehicle inspection is not required.

There is also no need to renew the insurance, as it is issued for the vehicle, not the car owner.

However, all drivers in Ukraine should remember about compulsory car insurance and monitor the validity of their existing policy.
