Stages of obtaining a visa to Canada

1. Determining the type of visa

The first step is to determine what type of visa you need and check whether you meet the established requirements for applying for a visa. You also need to know what documents you need to submit with your application, how long it may take to process your application, and how much the relevant services will cost.

2. Documents for obtaining a visa to Canada

To apply, you need to prepare:

– a scan of your passport;
– a scan of your previous/second passport, if any;
– personal data;
– digital photo;
– scan of the certificate from the place of work;
– scan of the bank statement and cash flow for the last 6 months;
– scans of marriage/divorce/childbirth certificates;
– scan of property documents (apartment, car, land);
– airline ticket reservation;
– hotel reservation;
– documents confirming the purpose of the trip.

Please note! You must have your documents translated into English. And when submitting online, you must provide high-quality, color scans of all documents.

3. Submitting the application

You can bring a printed and completed visa application form to the Visa Center. You also have the opportunity to submit documents online on the IRCC website.

Fill out the application form electronically. The completed application form (with barcodes) must be printed on good quality white glossy paper using a laser printer. Please make sure that the barcode page is printed clearly.

Pay attention to the weight! Handwritten forms will not be accepted.

4. Making an appointment

Prior to submitting your visa application, you must make an appointment to have your biometric data taken at a Canada Visa Center (if required by your visa type). After you make an appointment to have your biometric data taken, you will receive an email confirming your appointment.

5. Payment of the fee

After filling out the application, you will need to pay a visa application fee. You can pay this fee when submitting your documents at the Visa Center.

6. Visit to the Visa Center

If you did not submit your application online, you must submit your documents in person at the Canada Visa Center. During your visit, your application and biometric data (if required) will be accepted. Pay the applicable fees and receive a receipt. This receipt will contain your unique tracking number, which you can use to follow the progress of your application online.

7. Tracking your application

You will receive an email notification when the decision on your application is submitted to the Visa Center.

8. Receiving your documents

After the decision on your visa application is made, you can collect your documents at the Visa Center. In order to personally receive the envelope with the decision at the Visa Center, you must provide the following package of documents:

1. Original and copy of your identity document;
2. Original receipt of payment for services issued by the Visa Center.

If you are collecting documents for a minor child (under 18 years old), you will also need a copy of the birth certificate. If you have changed your surname or name, please provide supporting documents of the change and a copy of the passport of one of the parents.

If you submitted your documents by mail and will pick up the documents at the Visa Center, please present proof (receipts) that the documents were sent to the Visa Center, as the original receipt will not be available.
