The European Commission regularly analyses the quality of life in the countries of the continent. A report is prepared based on the results of the study, and many factors are taken into account to determine the results. One of them is employment opportunities. Based on the results of this year's report, Schengen Visa & EU Travel Entry Requirements has compiled a list of countries where it is easiest to find a job for both ethnic citizens and labour migrants. In general, the chances of finding a job are much higher in Northern and Western Europe than in the South or East. These are the results of a survey of more than 70,000 people from 83 European cities. The top three countries are the Czech Republic, Romania and Germany. Read more about the situation on the labour market in these countries, attitudes towards Ukrainians, vacancies in demand, salaries and ways to find a job on the Visit Ukraine portal.

TOP-3 countries for employment according to the European Commission

Czech Republic

The Czech labour market is diverse and attractive to foreigners. The country has a well-developed industry and logistics sector, and is home to many international companies that create new jobs. There is a large number of job vacancies for those who do not know the language.

The attitude of Czechs towards Ukrainians is neutral: in a social survey, 41% of participants said that their attitude was ‘uncertain, equally positive and negative’, 24% said ‘mostly positive’, 17% said ‘mostly negative’, 18% had virtually no experience of contact with Ukrainians, and 28% had direct experience of problems or conflicts involving Ukrainians.

Popular areas of employment in the Czech Republic: factories and plants, logistics centres and warehouses, IT and technology, construction and repair, international companies (English language skills are required).

Salaries of Ukrainians in the Czech Republic on job search sites range from 900 euros to 3500 euros per month.

In early 2024, 500 Romanian employers reported that they were ready to hire Ukrainian migrants. The work is mostly physical and does not require language skills. The number of vacancies also increased significantly during the year.

Popular areas of employment in Romania include the automotive industry, food and processing industry, and bakeries.

Germany

Thanks to the Job-Turbo programme, the share of Ukrainians in the German labour market increased to 29.9% in August this year. At the same time, many faced challenges due to their lack of German language skills. The German labour market is currently experiencing a shortage of skilled workers.

Most Germans have a positive and loyal attitude towards Ukrainian refugees. 41% of them are satisfied with the fact that qualified specialists are moving to Germany. At the same time, there are sometimes protests among groups of people who believe that ‘Ukrainians enrich themselves at the expense of Germany’.

Popular areas of employment in Germany include engineering, professional care, IT, logistics (truck drivers), and labour.

The average salary in Germany is 4400 euros (2800 after taxes).
