Finding a decent, well-paid job outside of Ukraine is perhaps the most important goal of many people today. The countries of the European Union are becoming more and more attractive destinations for Ukrainian labour migration.


What opportunities do European labour markets offer and what specific salaries are offered - we will tell you further in the article.


Salaries in EU countries: statistics


According to Eurostat, the average annual salary in EU countries in 2023 was 37,900 euros (approximately 1,665,614 hryvnias). In 2022, it was 35,600 euros, an increase of 6.5%.


The highest average annual salary was recorded in Luxembourg - EUR 81,064 (UAH 3,562,568 at the current exchange rate). This is followed by Denmark with €67,604 (UAH 2,971,033) and Ireland with €58,679 (UAH 2,578,801).


According to Eurostat, the lowest average annual salary was recorded in Bulgaria - EUR 13,503 (UAH 593,424), Hungary - EUR 16,895 (UAH 742,494) and Greece - EUR 17,013 (UAH 747,680). For comparison, in Poland, the figure was EUR 18,054 (UAH 793,429).


By the way, Switzerland took first place in the ranking of countries with the highest average salaries, where the average salary in 2023 was EUR 7,676 (UAH 337,341). Luxembourg took the second place with 6,277 euros (275,859 hryvnias), and the United States with 6,109 euros (268,475 hryvnias).

Salaries in Germany


Germany is one of the leading countries in terms of earnings for Ukrainians. Here, the average salary ranges from 3,500 euros (153,816 hryvnias) to 4,000 euros (175,790 hryvnias). The high demand for engineers, IT specialists and medical staff ensures stable incomes for skilled workers. Germany also provides favourable conditions for the integration of migrants, making it a very attractive destination.

Salaries in Switzerland


Switzerland offers even higher salaries - from 5,000 euros (219,738 hryvnias) to 6,000 euros (263,685 hryvnias). This country is famous for its stable economy, high living standards and good working conditions in finance, IT and pharmaceuticals. Ukrainian specialists with the appropriate qualifications can find not only high-paying jobs, but also opportunities for professional growth.

Salaries in Luxembourg


In Luxembourg, average earnings range from 4,000 euros (175,790 UAH) to 5,000 euros (219,738 UAH). This small country offers opportunities in the banking and finance sector, as well as a high level of social protection.


Salaries in the Netherlands, Ireland and Denmark


These countries also offer attractive working conditions with average salaries ranging from EUR 3,500 (UAH 153,816) to EUR 4,000 (UAH 175,790). Engineers, doctors, IT specialists, and scientists are in demand here. In addition to high salaries, these countries are attractive for their stability and developed social protection.
