When do sakuras bloom in Uzhhorod?

Usually, sakuras in Uzhhorod bloom in mid-April and last until early May. However, the timing of flowering can vary depending on weather conditions. For example, in 2024, the first sakuras began to bloom in early April, and massive flowering was observed by the middle of the month.


Therefore, if the weather conditions in 2025 are similar, we can expect the sakuras to please us with their bloom even earlier.




Where can you find sakura in Uzhhorod?

Uzhhorod is rich in Japanese cherries, so you can admire sakura in many places in the city. For example:


Kyivska and Pravoslavna embankments: here is the Sakura Alley, which attracts numerous tourists with its charming appearance.


Svobody Avenue: this avenue stretches from the Uzh River to the railway station. Here you can see not only cherry blossoms but also paradise apple trees.


Maria Zankovetska Street: On this street, sakura trees bloom on both sides, creating a unique atmosphere.


Bohdana Khmelnytskoho Square: There are several low sakura trees here, which add a special charm to the square.


Slovianska Embankment: The sakura trees on this embankment begin right behind the Venice restaurant and extend to Bozdosh Park.


It is worth noting that these are not all the locations where you can see sakura blossoms in Uzhhorod. The trees bloom almost all over the city, adding color and uniqueness to the city.

Sakura Fest 2025


Traditionally, Uzhhorod hosts a cultural festival every year - Sakura Fest in the old center. It usually takes place in late April or early May. In 2023, the event took place on April 21-23.


The date of the festival in 2025 is not yet known, but it can be assumed that it will take place in a similar timeframe.

In addition to sakura blossoms, Uzhhorod has many unique places to visit.


1. Uzhhorod Castle

This is one of the oldest fortresses in Transcarpathia, with a history dating back more than a thousand years. The castle is well preserved and today it houses a museum with exhibitions dedicated to the history and culture of the region. The castle walls offer a great view of the city.


2. Transcarpathian Museum of Folk Architecture and Life (Skansen)

This open-air museum allows you to get acquainted with the life and way of life of Transcarpathians of the past centuries. Here you can see traditional wooden houses, churches, mills and other objects of folk architecture.


3. Uzhhorod Synagogue (Transcarpathian Regional Philharmonic)

The former synagogue, built in 1904, is one of the most beautiful architectural monuments in the city. Today, it houses the regional philharmonic, which hosts concerts of classical and folk music.


4. Mustard Seed Lane

This is a cozy and stylish lane known for its souvenir shops, cafes, and galleries. An atmospheric place, ideal for walking and relaxing.


5. Linden Alley

Stretching along the Uzh River, Linden Alley is the longest in Europe. In the summertime, there is a pleasant shade here, and in spring and autumn, the alley is striking in its beauty.


6. Holy Cross Cathedral

One of the main spiritual centers of Uzhhorod. Built in the XVIII century, the cathedral impresses with its Baroque architecture and historical significance.


7. Mini-sculptures of Uzhhorod

In different parts of the city there are small bronze sculptures that have become a real highlight of Uzhhorod. The most famous of them are the statues of Mozart, Button, Freedom, and Uncle Kolya the Lantern Maker.


8. Korzo is the heart of the old town

It is the central pedestrian street of Uzhhorod, where numerous cafes, restaurants, shops and souvenir shops are located. It is known for its European atmosphere and old buildings.


9. UzhNU Botanical Garden

This is a real oasis of nature where you can see rare plants from different parts of the world. In spring, the garden is especially beautiful when magnolias and other exotic plants bloom.


10. Confectionery “Stefanyo”

One of the most popular places for sweets lovers. Here you can taste exquisite handmade cakes and chocolates, as well as enjoy a cup of aromatic coffee.


11. Bozdosh Park

The largest park in the city, which is great for outdoor activities. There are playgrounds, sports areas, bike rental and numerous cozy picnic areas.


12. Restaurant “Deca at the Notary”

This is not just a restaurant, but a real cultural landmark with original humor. Here you can taste Transcarpathian cuisine and enjoy a special atmosphere with witty inscriptions and interior.


13. Suspension bridge over the Uzh

One of the most interesting bridges in the city, which offers a picturesque view of the river and the old town. A great place for romantic walks.
