Popular rare names during the war in Ukraine: Ministry of Justice shows list

During wartime, Ukrainians feel a special patriotism and try to pass it on to the next generations. One of the ways they do this is through rare names. Find out how parents have chosen symbolic names for their children in Ukraine since the start of the full-scale invasion
Since 2022, Ukraine has seen an interesting trend in the choice of names for newborns. During the war, some parents showed originality and patriotism by giving their children rare and symbolic names. The Ministry of Justice of Ukraine has presented a list of such names that stand out from the traditional ones.
Patriotic names
One of the most notable trends has been the emergence of names inspired by military equipment and symbols of resistance. Among the boys are registered:
🔻 Myroliub - a name that reflects the desire for peace, so desirable in these times.
🔻 Jan-Javelin is a reference to the Javelin anti-tank missile system, which has become a symbol of the Ukrainian resistance.
🔻 Artur-Bayraktar is a combination of the name and the name of the Turkish drone Bayraktar, which played a significant role in the defence of Ukraine.
Among girls, there are also names associated with these symbols:
🔻 Javelina
🔻 Adelina-Javelina
🔻 Javelina-Didem
Special attention should be paid to the name Stefania, which became especially popular after the Kalush Orchestra won the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 with the song of the same name. This hit became a real anthem of support for Ukraine and influenced the choice of many parents.
