Ukrainians will be paid bonuses for English language skills: who will be able to count on bonuses

The Resolution on Supplements provides for the payment of additional funds to certain categories of citizens. Find out who exactly will be paid and how the system will work
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has decided to introduce a bonus for English language proficiency at least at B2 level. The allowance will amount to 10% of the official salary. This was announced by Taras Melnychuk, the government's representative in the Verkhovna Rada.
Who will be eligible for the bonus?
The resolution provides for the payment of additional funds to certain categories of citizens. In particular, the following will be eligible for a financial bonus:
▪️ Contract servicemen;
▪️ Heads (deputy heads) of local state administrations;
▪️ Police officers (middle and senior staff of the National Police of Ukraine);
▪️ Senior officers of other law enforcement agencies and civil protection services;
▪️ Prosecutors;
▪️Руководители and members of executive bodies of state-owned enterprises where the state share exceeds 50%;
▪️ Heads of state research institutions;
▪️ Heads of higher education institutions;
▪️ Employees in the field of education and science, including heads of institutions.

How will the supplement work?
According to the Resolution, the payment mechanism will come into force simultaneously with part six of Article 4 of the Law of Ukraine ‘On the Use of English in Ukraine’. It is planned that the allowance will be in effect for four years.
This decision is aimed at improving the level of English language proficiency among employees of government agencies, law enforcement agencies, research and educational institutions. It is also intended to facilitate Ukraine's integration into the international community and improve the quality of public administration.
Additional details on the procedure for confirming the level of language proficiency and the mechanisms for calculating the allowance will be defined in the next regulatory acts.
