The Easter holidays are the perfect time to take a short trip around Ukraine. While the capital and major cities go about their usual business, the western regions offer a completely different pace: quiet streets, local cuisine, artisanal traditions, and an atmosphere that makes you want to linger. This year, Transcarpathia and Bukovina are among the most interesting destinations for those seeking a peaceful yet fulfilling getaway.

This article features four tried-and-true itineraries for the Easter holidays: intimate Uzhhorod with a spa and mini-sculptures, a cultural weekend in Chernivtsi with tastings and theatrical tours, festive Lviv with a fair, the Pysanka Festival, and hayivky in Shevchenko Park, as well as a walking tour of downtown Uzhhorod with a focus on coffee and urban sculpture.

Easter 2026 Tour to Uzhhorod: Spa, Mini-Sculptures, and a Relaxing Getaway

Uzhhorod is a city best experienced at a leisurely pace. That’s why a four-day tour with accommodation at the modern Apartel Uzhhorod apart-hotel is perfect for the Easter holidays. In three nights, you can do the essentials: see the historic center, relax in the hotel’s spa area, taste local coffee, and explore the city at a leisurely pace. The price includes breakfast for two, a private transfer from the train station and back, as well as a guided tour lasting about two and a half hours, during which the guide will show you the key sights of the city center.

A separate part of the program is a scavenger hunt to find Uzhhorod’s miniature sculptures. There are over forty of them in Uzhhorod, and each has its own story. Participants receive a map and stickers, turning an ordinary walk into an interactive adventure. The format works well for both couples and families with children. This itinerary is designed for four days and three nights, making it perfect for a short holiday getaway—without an overloaded schedule, but with plenty of experiences.

Easter Weekend in Chernivtsi: Ivasyuk, Mykolaychuk, and Bukovinian Traditions

A two-day tour of Chernivtsi and the Chernivtsi region—an option for those interested in the cultural aspect of travel. The itinerary starts in Lviv or Ivano-Frankivsk and covers the city itself and several villages in Bukovina. In Chernivtsi, participants will see the famous university, visit the Volodymyr Ivasyuk Museum, and take a theatrical walking tour of the city. Dinner in the city wraps up the first day, after which the group is transported to a hotel in the Chernivtsi district.

The second day is dedicated to the heart of Bukovina. The program includes a tasting at the “Dobri Gazdy” cheese factory in Mykhailivka, a visit to the Ivan Mykolaychuk Museum in Chortoryia, and a workshop on making Malanka masks in Vashkivtsi. Malanka is one of Bukovina’s most vibrant ritual traditions, and the opportunity to see how the masks are made adds depth to the trip. In the evening, the group returns to Ivano-Frankivsk or Lviv. The itinerary is compact, designed for two days, and successfully combines museum visits, a culinary experience, and an introduction to the region’s living folk traditions.

Easter in Lviv: a fair, pysanka, and hayivky in Shevchenko Park

A two-day tour of Lviv—an option for those who want to celebrate Easter in a city where the holiday is felt on literally every street. The first day begins with a meet-up at the train station and a bus tour of the city’s main sights: St. George’s Cathedral, Lychakiv Cemetery, and panoramic viewpoints. After lunch, there’s a walking tour called “10 Highlights of Lviv,” which leads to the city center, where the Easter Fair and the Pysanka Festival are taking place these days. Here, you’ll also witness the blessing of Easter baskets. After some free time at the evening fair, the group is transported to the hotel, with check-in after 9:30 PM.

The second day begins with breakfast and the Easter Liturgy. After lunch, the program moves to Shevchenko Grove—an open-air museum where folk traditions come to life on Easter: hayivky, spring songs, performances by folk ensembles, master classes, and quests at various locations. The format allows you to choose activities to your liking and spend the rest of the day at your own pace. In the evening—transfer to the train station. The itinerary is compact and requires no additional overnight stays: two days with one overnight stay provide enough experiences to get a feel for Lviv’s Easter—with its fair-like atmosphere, rituals, and live music.

Walking Tour of Uzhhorod: Coffee Shops, Sculptures, and the Street Coffee Museum

This route is for those who are already in Uzhhorod or plan to spend a full day there. The walk takes you through the historic city center and includes visits to several atmospheric coffee shops, an introduction to a collection of mini-sculptures, and a stop at the “Under the Castle” café-museum, which houses a collection of antique household items still in working condition. Special highlights include the Uzh River embankment and Theater Square, home to sculptural installations, as well as Zhupanatska Square with “Mustard Seed” Alley.

The walk concludes with a coffee tasting at one of the cafes in the old town center. The route works well both as a standalone activity and as a complement to a longer stay in the city. Uzhhorod is known for its coffee culture, and this tour format allows you to experience it from the inside—through flavors, locations, and the stories shared by the guides. For the Easter holidays, this option is convenient because it doesn’t require days of planning: one free day is enough.
