From the beginning of 2023, residence permits in Lithuania for refugees from Ukraine will be in electronic format only. Those persons who previously received such a permit in the form of a plastic card must replace the document.

How to replace a residence permit in Lithuania?

If you already have a residence permit in the form of a card, you need to register on the website www.migracija.lt - here you provide your e-mail address and fill in the form with the necessary personal information.

After the system checks your information, you will receive a residence permit by e-mail, which will be valid from March 5, 2023, to March 4, 2024. You need to save the received permission on your gadget or print it.

Video instructions in English on how to replace a residence permit can be viewed at the link.

How to get a residence permit if you are in Lithuania recently?

Refugees from Ukraine who have recently arrived in Lithuania and are not yet registered with the Migration Department can also obtain an electronic residence permit. But for this, you need to personally visit the Department of Migration Department for visitor services once. Here you will need to provide the originals of identity documents, and you will also take biometric data: a photo of your face and fingerprints.

After checking your information, you will receive an electronic residence permit in electronic format, which can be downloaded by logging into your account at www.migracija.lt.

The electronic document will be valid from March 5, 2023.

Video instructions in English on how to obtain a new residence permit can be viewed at the link.

Services for issuing or extending electronic residence permits in Lithuania for refugees from Ukraine fleeing the war are provided free of charge. You can check the validity of your electronic document on the website www.migracija.lt by scanning the QR code.

We draw your attention! Ukrainians who moved to Lithuania before the middle of September 2022 received a permit to live in the country for 1 year. The Department of Migration warns about the importance of applying for a digital permit for a temporary stay in the country. This can be done using the MIGRIS information platform.

Why is it important to change your residence permit in Lithuania on time?

Ukrainians who will not be able to submit an application to change their plastic residence permit to a digital one in time may face problems in receiving full medical care, processing social benefits and cash assistance for children, submitting applications for home heating, impossibility of compensation for hot and cold water, etc. .

How to apply for a change of residence permit?

You can read the detailed instructions for submitting an application to replace a plastic residence permit in Lithuania with a digital one here.

Do persons who arrived in Lithuania later than mid-September 2022 need to issue a replacement permit?

Refugees who arrived in Lithuania in mid-autumn 2022 do not need to deal with the replacement of their residence permit in the country, because their permits will remain valid until 2024.

We will remind you! Starting next year, refugees from Ukraine will be able to use public transport in Lithuania for free. Find out in which cities free travel has been extended and what documents are required for this in our material at the link.
