Traffic fines scare drivers all over the world. And for good reason, because the amounts can be tens of thousands of dollars.

Refugees in foreign countries are not exempt from paying fines. The most important thing is to follow the rules of the road, but it is also extremely important to know what and how much you will have to pay. Let's find out which countries have the highest fines below.

The most dangerous countries in the world in 2023 - read here.

Top countries with the highest fines for drivers

Finland is at the top of the ranking, where a fine of $200,000 has recently been recorded. This amount was determined because the total income is taken into account when calculating the amount. That is why the Finnish businessman received such a fine.

However, the minimum fine in the Scandinavian country is also considerable - $1.6 thousand.

The second place in the ranking is occupied by Canada, which imposed a fine of $25,000 for speeding.

In Japan, you can get a fine of $8,700 if you drive while intoxicated and $420 for running a red light.

Drivers in the UK pay an average of $ 100 for speeding, but a few years ago a Briton replenished the state treasury for $ 8,000 for a similar violation.

Although Italy is famous for its wines, driving while intoxicated is strictly prohibited. This is punishable by a $6,400 fine and a two-year driving ban.

In the United States, it is difficult to single out the average amount of the fine, because it depends on the state. For example, in Virginia, offending drivers will be forced to pay $2,600 for speeding.

Portugal and Germany have set low fines compared to the leaders of the ranking. They will charge $1900 and $630 for speeding, respectively.

Among Asian countries, China is the leader with an average fine of $300. However, drunk drivers will be additionally punished with a 15-day imprisonment and deprivation of the right to drive for six months.

How to insure your car abroad and avoid unnecessary expenses?

All Ukrainians who own a car abroad must insure it. This is a mandatory requirement for cars with Ukrainian registration. The best way is to buy a Green Card insurance policy. You can do this online even while you are already abroad.

Please note! Without an insurance policy, you face possible risks:

- A fine for not having a policy from 1000 euros;

- deportation;

- prohibition to enter the country;

- seizure or arrest of the vehicle, etc.
