Money for Ukrainian refugees in the UK: details

According to the new funding scheme, Ukrainians living in the UK will be supported in securing housing. The money will go to local councils across the country and will be used to rent housing and find jobs for refugees.

Funding will be distributed according to the number of Ukrainians living in certain regions: 109 million pounds for England, 30 million pounds for Scotland, 8 million pounds for Wales, and about 2 million pounds for Northern Ireland.

Felicity Buchanan, the support officer, said: "Unfortunately, the fighting in Ukraine shows no sign of ending anytime soon, so we are calling on more people to offer asylum to Ukrainians while providing additional funding to local councils to support them with their long-term accommodation needs."

How many Ukrainians has Britain taken in?

Since the start of the russian invasion in February 2022, more than 124,000 Ukrainians have moved to the United Kingdom under the Homes for Ukraine scheme.

Almost half of the citizens of working age have already found jobs in the country.

We remind you! Refugees from Ukraine who have taken refuge in Europe since the beginning of the full-scale war continue to return home. Here is how to refuse temporary protection in Poland, the Czech Republic, Germany, Switzerland and the UK.
