According to Ukrainian law, all internally displaced persons and their children are entitled to financial, humanitarian, social and other types of assistance from the state.

According to the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine, children born after their parents have been granted IDP status are also entitled to state assistance. The article below describes financial assistance for newborn Ukrainians and the amount of state payments.

Payments to newborns: what is known

Citizens of Ukraine with IDP status who have children born after 24 February 2022 are entitled to IDP status and the corresponding newborn payments.

It is noted that if the child was born after the outbreak of a full-scale war, but before the resolution came into force, he or she is also entitled to receive payments. After the relevant application, the child will be granted the benefit with an automatic extension until 1 August 2023.

To receive the allowance for a newborn child, you only need an IDP certificate. With the relevant certificate, you can get the same document for your baby.

To receive financial assistance for the cost of living for a newborn child, you must submit an application with an IDP certificate attached.

Amounts of assistance for newborns from the state

The total amount of assistance for families with newborns in Ukraine is UAH 41,280. However, by law, this benefit is paid in instalments. This means that families with children can receive the following amounts from the state in instalments: UAH 10,320 as a lump sum immediately after the birth of the baby and UAH 860 monthly for the next 36 months.

Women raising their children on their own can receive the following payments from the state:

● a child under 6 years of age - UAH 2,272 per month;

● a child from 6 to 18 years old - UAH 2,833 per month;

● a child from 18 to 23 years of age and during his/her studies at educational institutions - UAH 2,684.

The state has also established the appropriate amounts of child support:

● a child under 6 years of age - UAH 1,136 per month;

● a child from 6 to 18 years of age - UAH 1,416.50 per month;

● a child from 18 to 23 years of age and during his/her studies in educational institutions - UAH 1,342.

It is also noted that families with many children are entitled to payments from the state in the amount of UAH 2,684 per month for each child under 6 years of age.

However, it is worth noting that the payments will start from the date of submission of the relevant documents, not from the child's birthday.
