How to extend temporary protection in the Czech Republic?
Currently, the status of temporary protection is confirmed by a special visa sticker in refugee documents, which is valid until March 31, 2024.
According to the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic, the procedure for issuing these stickers this year was successful, so it is expected that the next process of extending the status will also be smooth.
The Czech government is considering splitting the extension process into two stages due to the large number of refugees.
Ukrainians will be able to complete the mandatory electronic registration until March 15, 2024 and choose the date of their visit to the Ministry of the Interior, where they will receive a visa sticker for extension of status until March 31, 2025. This procedure must be completed no later than September 30, 2024.
What may change for Ukrainians in the Czech Republic?
The new amendment to the law "lex Ukraine" also takes into account changes in education and the desire of Ukrainians to visit their homeland.
It is emphasized that the general rules for voluntary return to Ukraine under the Act on the Residence of Foreigners or the Act on Temporary Protection are insignificant and not very flexible.
In this regard, the Czech Ministry of the Interior plans to create a special program that will be submitted to the government.
