Underwater production: what is known about the SeaBaby drones used to hit the Crimean bridge
The SBU Head Vasyl Malyuk shared the details of the production of surface drones that Ukraine successfully uses to attack ships and bridges. Find out how production was set up underground and what surprises await the occupiers
Naval surface drones, which Ukraine has been successfully using to strike bridges and russian ships, are manufactured at one of Ukraine's underground production facilities. The head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Vasyl Malyuk, told CNN in an interview.
"Naval surface drones are a unique development of the Security Service of Ukraine. No private company was involved in this. With the help of these drones, we have recently successfully destroyed the Crimean bridge, the large landing ship Olenegorskiy Gornyak and the SIG tanker," Malyuk said.
According to the SBU Head, SeaBaby drones are the SBU's own technical development. The SBU team is working on their production, with the help of civilian engineers and IT specialists. The development of the drones began immediately after the start of the full-scale invasion of russia and took several months.

SeaBaby: technical specifications
The marine drones that damaged the Crimean bridge on July 17, 2023, were equipped with a warhead of 850 kg. At the same time, two separate drones were used to hit the Olenegorskiy Gornyak landing ship and the Sig tanker, each equipped with a 450-kilogram warhead.
Earlier, it was speculated that Ukraine was using Magura drones for water attacks, but according to Malyuk, they were not involved in special operations. In addition, according to the SBU head, the tactical and technical characteristics of the SeaBaby drones are superior to the Magura. However, details of equipment and other technical characteristics were not disclosed.
For comparison, the Magura drones can perform tasks at a distance of 833 km (450 nautical miles) and have a maximum speed of about 78 km/h (42 knots).

Destruction of the russian fleet and strikes on bridges
For the first time, the SBU Head openly confirmed the SBU's involvement in special operations in the Black Sea, including the attack on the Crimean Bridge in October 2022.
"At the final stage of preparation, we could not even think about sleeping or eating. We were fully focused on the operation. The last days were quite nerve-wracking. When the explosion happened, we were very happy and started congratulating each other. It was a very emotional moment for all of us and our victory, which will definitely come soon," Malyuk said in an interview.
In addition, the head of the SBU emphasized that Western partners are not involved in the preparation or conduct of operations in the Black Sea. However, according to Malyuk, they are watching with interest and actively adopting the SBU's experience.
"Today we are working on the development and implementation of many interesting operations, in particular in the Black Sea. I promise you, it will be a surprise, especially for our enemies," said Vasyl Malyuk.
So, we hope that Ukrainian surprises will not be long in coming and will put an end to the existence of the Crimean bridge and the russian fleet forever!
