Ukraine has lifted restrictions on traveling abroad for people whose relatives were killed or went missing while participating in the ATO. The relevant changes were made to the Rules for Crossing the Border by Ukrainian Citizens at the initiative of the Ministry of Veterans during a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers and came into force on August 16.
Border guards will now allow people liable for military service who meet this category to cross the border.
Another category of people is allowed to cross the border: details
It is noted that such an initiative was taken to avoid improper restriction of the rights of relatives of persons who suffered losses during active participation in the ATO: from the beginning of the conflict in 2014 to April 30, 2018.
In particular, persons whose relatives died after April 30, 2018, also received the right to leave.
"I would like to note that this applies to persons whose close relatives, in particular, husband, wife, son, daughter, father, mother, grandfather, grandmother or sibling (full or half), were killed or went missing while directly participating in the ATO or ensuring its implementation," said Andriy Demchenko, spokesman for the State Border Guard Service.

Previously, persons liable for military service whose relatives were killed or went missing "during measures to ensure national security and defense, deter the armed aggression of the Russian Federation in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, as well as during the periods from April 30, 2018, to February 24, 2022, and after February 24, 2022, were allowed to travel abroad. Since the conflict with russia began in 2014, the rights of all relatives of the deceased were equalized.
According to a representative of the State Border Guard Service, people whose relatives were killed or went missing while participating in the ATO will be able to travel abroad if they can prove this fact with documents.
It is also planned to change the rules for crossing the border and the rules for issuing relevant documents. To do this, it is necessary to combine the databases of the Border Guard Service and territorial recruitment centers, which will help prevent corruption risks and ensure more transparent activities of both structures.
We will remind you! When traveling outside their home country, tourists are required to take out a travel health insurance policy for the entire duration of their stay abroad. However, not everyone knows that the insurance covers more days than the tourist actually takes out when buying the policy.
