In our time of mobility and constant traveling, the question about the presence of traffic fines both in Ukraine and abroad is becoming more and more relevant. We tell you how you can check the presence of fines in Ukraine and abroad to avoid unpleasant surprises.

You may have had to think about the presence of fines, whether you are a driver or just a car owner, to be aware of your road "cleanliness".

Fines in Ukraine

Resource from the Ministry of Internal Affairs

As you know, many roads in Ukraine are equipped with photo and video cameras for traffic violations. Thus, it is quite easy to get a fine and it is not necessary to be stopped by the police.

The system of fixation of violations in Ukraine is good enough to cope with "racers" and daredevils, but complicates the ability to trace the presence of a receipt for ignoring traffic rules.

Messages, where the violation is indicated, are sent via Ukrposhta to the owner of a particular car and to the legal address of residence, i.e. at the place of residence registration.

For this purpose, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine launched a service that allows you to track fines. In the browser you can find this resource at this link. There is also a mobile application available for download for Android and iOS.

Using the service, drivers can:

- find current rulings on a vehicle;

- subscribe to receive notifications about the status of the ruling;

- Pay fines online;

- find access to video fixation maps.

A driver can make payment for a fine within 10 business days. If the car owner pays within this period, he will receive a 50% discount on the full amount of the fine.

Telegram-bot

Ukrainians can also track fines in the messenger Telegram. The link to the special bot is here.

With the help of this bot you can:

- add a car to the system of the program for tracking fines;

- find out the current orders and pay them with a discount of -10%;

- subscribe to notifications about new fines;

- get help if you have any questions.

Fines in the EU: do foreigners have to pay them?

Despite the fact that European Union countries have slight differences in traffic rules, within the EU, information about the violation of a certain car and driver can be exchanged between countries, and the fine will automatically arrive at your address.

As for the payment time, for example, in Poland, as well as in some other countries, fines are divided into three types, and depending on the type of fine, different time is given to pay the fine:

1. cash fine (Mandat gotówkowy) - more often such a fine is issued to foreigners and persons of no fixed abode, and therefore it must be paid on the spot.

2. In absentia fine - such a fine can be issued for incorrect parking and the offender has 7 days to pay it.

3. Credit fine (Mandat kredytowany) - such a fine can be issued to both Polish citizens and foreigners with permanent residence. The term for payment of such a fine is also 7 days.

In Poland there are two services where you can track your fines: on the website www.ebok.canard.gitd.gov.pl and the portal www.gov.pl/web/gov/sprawdz-swoje-punkty-karne

As for other countries, practically all European Union states practice online services for tracking fines. In order to find such a service, it is recommended to visit the website of the Ministry of Interior or other agency responsible for traffic rules of the country where you are staying.

What if I don't pay a fine in the EU?

Fines from the EU do not reach Ukraine yet. However, not paying for the violation is not the best idea, because sooner or later you may return to the European Union.

Moreover, if you received a fine on the road and did not pay it, the fine will not disappear. It will probably increase in value. In France, for example, if you don't pay for 45 days for speeding, the fine increases from the initial €135 to €375.

In addition, information about the violation and unpaid fine may appear at the border guards and the next trip may bring you additional difficulties at the border.

We will remind you! Since July 1, updated traffic rules have been in force on the roads of Poland. They are aimed at improving the safety of people, cargo and vehicles. What changes have taken place and what are the new fines, read here.
