Starting in July, new rules for drivers came into force in Poland, which not only change the general traffic regulations, but also increase fines and introduce a new system of accumulating penalty points.

Read on to find out what drivers in Poland can be fined for and how much.

Increase in fines in Poland

Poland has recently increased the minimum wage, and in connection with this, fines for lack of third-party liability insurance have also increased.

It is noted that from now on, car drivers who are late in purchasing a policy may receive a fine of between PLN 1,440 and 7,200, depending on the policy's expiry date.

Truck drivers will pay even more, namely from PLN 2,160 to PLN 10,800.

Fines for failure to submit a declaration

From now on, those drivers who are late in filing the PCC-3 declaration will pay increased fines. The PSS-3 is a declaration that allows the relevant service to deduct tax on civil law transactions.

Starting in July, fines for late filing of the declaration will range from 360 to 72,000 PLN.

Reduction of the validity period of penalty points

According to Polish law, drivers who have exceeded the statutory number of penalty points will have their driving licence revoked.

The following innovation is more positive for drivers. Previously, penalty points were cancelled every 2 years, but now, according to the new rules, penalty points will be cancelled every year.

Overtaking ban

Starting from 1 July, a new rule will be introduced on Polish roads regarding overtaking by trucks of categories N2 and N3 on motorways.

From now on, drivers of vehicles in the above categories must keep to the right-hand lane. However, the exception is when a truck is approaching a vehicle travelling at a speed much lower than the speed limit for N2 and N3 vehicles.

Cancellation of motorway tolls

Also from July, the following motorways will be free of tolls:

● motorway A2 from Konin to Stryków;

● motorway A4 from Wrocław to Gliwice.

Also, on weekends, tolls on the A1 Toruń-Gdańsk motorway will be cancelled. It is noted that on weekdays, travelling on this road costs PLN 29.90.

Insurance policy for a safe journey

Car insurance is a mandatory element for entering many countries of the world by car. In particular, a Green Card policy is required for travelling from Ukraine to European countries.

The Green Card has a number of advantages, in particular, it protects drivers from unforeseen situations and expenses during the trip.

The Green Card must be obtained from a licensed insurer. The easiest way to do this is online. Visit Ukraine offers insurance from 15 days to 1 year. Choose the period you need by following the link.
