Ukraine has experienced a significant displacement of its citizens due to Russian aggression. The war has forced many Ukrainians to seek refuge and new opportunities abroad, resulting in a large number of refugees seeking a stable income. Here are some interesting data on the employment of Ukrainian refugees in Europe and the most acceptable countries for employment, as revealed by the Report of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development

Poland, the UK and Sweden are the leaders in employment

Data for the study were obtained from various national and international sources and collected at different times. In Poland, the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic and Italy, the data are based on surveys.

The data for Poland are taken from the NBP report of November last year. Since then, the country has seen an influx of Ukrainian refugees.

According to the OECD report, Poland has become a recognized leader in terms of employment of Ukrainian refugees among the countries surveyed.

Surprisingly, as many as 65% of able-bodied Ukrainian refugees in Poland have found work and provided their families with the opportunity to live stably and integrate into the new society.

The second and third places in terms of employment are occupied by the UK with 61% and Sweden with 56% of employed Ukrainian refugees.

This indicates that these countries provide accepted refugees with the opportunity to quickly find a job and start a new phase in their lives.

Other countries with high employment rates

Ukrainian refugees are also successfully integrating into the labor markets of other European countries.

The employment rate of Ukrainian refugees in other European countries is as follows:

• In Lithuania - 53%.

• In the Czech Republic - 51%.

• In Denmark, the Netherlands and Estonia - 46%

• In France - 33%.

Challenges with employment

The lowest employment rates were observed in Switzerland and Italy, where the employment rate of able-bodied refugees was 19%.

The organization's ranking does not include data for Germany, but in August Andrea Nahles, head of the Federal Employment Agency, said that the employment rate of able-bodied Ukrainian refugees in Germany was also 19%.

"Ukrainian refugees integrate into the labor market of a foreign country much faster than other refugee groups, who need five to ten years to find a job" the report says.

Much of the employment opportunities for Ukrainian refugees are in low-skilled jobs, even with higher education.

Despite the challenges, many countries are showing great interest in integrating refugees and providing them with the opportunity to build a new life and contribute to the development of their families.
