In August-October 2023, the amount of promised aid to Ukraine from Western countries reached a historic low, decreasing by almost 90% compared to the same period in 2022. This is evidenced by the results of a study conducted by the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, according to EP.

Aid to Ukraine has fallen to a minimum compared to last year

According to the study, between August and October 2023, the total value of new aid packages amounted to €2.11 billion, the lowest since January 2022.

The main donors were countries such as Germany, Finland, Ireland, Croatia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, Canada, and the United Kingdom.

Although the United States remains the largest donor of military aid with a total of 44 billion euros, Germany is quickly catching up with it, with military commitments of more than 17 billion euros.

EU countries are also ahead of the US in terms of pledged military aid, with 47% of the total amount pledged for heavy weapons from January 2022 to October 2023.

As you know, the bill to provide assistance to Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan failed to pass a procedural vote in the US Senate, requiring 60 votes but receiving only 49 support from senators. Earlier, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius rejected accusations of insufficient assistance to Ukraine in the war against russia.

We remind you! The government has authorized the insurance of investments of both Ukrainian and foreign companies against military risks. According to the adopted draft law, the Export Credit Agency (ECA) is authorized to insure against risks associated with armed aggression, hostilities and terrorism.
