Updated information! The extension of temporary residence permits in Poland until March 4, 2025 does not apply to Ukrainian citizens, but only to third-country nationals who were legally residing in Ukraine at the time of the full-scale invasion and arrived in Poland fleeing the hostilities. This information was made public by the Polish government.

The Polish authorities have extended temporary protection for refugees from Ukraine for another year - until March 4, 2025, the press service of the country's government reported.

As you know, the mechanism of temporary protection was introduced by an executive decision of the EU Council in March 2022 and is currently extended until 2025.

Do I need to renew my documents for legal stay in Poland?

According to the announcement, persons holding temporary protection certificates from the Office for Foreigners valid until 4 March 2023, 4 September 2023 or 4 March 2024 do not need to obtain new documents. These certificates will remain valid until March 4, 2025.

It is noted that the existing regulations do not provide for a legal basis for replacing certificates already issued due to the extension of the temporary protection period.

The documents contain a corresponding note on the extension of their validity in accordance with the law. Thus, foreigners who have already received certificates can continue to use them as documents confirming their legal residence status.
