Why should you go on a trip to Transcarpathia? 7 reasons for tourists

● Mukachevo is the soul of Transcarpathia, one of the most picturesque cities of Ukraine, which was located among majestic mountains. The city is famous for its rich history, because here, it would seem, in a rather small area, there are an amazing number of unique monuments of the Renaissance, Gothic and Baroque eras. Exact information about when Mukachevo was founded has not been preserved, but it is known that already between the 10th and 11th centuries the city was one of the most developed in Kyivan Rus.

Mukachevo is a place of eclectic styles, blends of aromatic wines, cozy streets, extraordinary aura and powerful energy. The atmosphere of Mukachevo fascinates even seasoned travelers.

● Palanok Castle is one of the best castles in Central Europe, located on the outskirts of Mukachevo. It rises on the 68-meter high Castle Mountain of volcanic origin above the valley of the Latoritsa River. Unfortunately, the exact date of the foundation of the castle has not been preserved, it is only known that the fortress already existed in the 11th century.

It was created according to the principles of medieval defense architecture. The castle has four levels, on which three castles are located: Lower, Middle and Upper or Old Castle (Acropolis).

Throughout its history, the fortress was the residence of many princes and rich barons. Today, there are historical and local history museums, painting and carving exhibitions are held here.

● Carpathian thermal baths – Transcarpathia is the leader in Ukraine in terms of the number of balneological resorts, as there are more than 50 thermal springs of various types of mineralization. One of the most popular is the health and recreation complex "Kosyno", in the village of Koson, Berehiv district. Its thermal pools are endowed with healing properties of underground water and have a temperature of 36-40°C. In addition, the resort impresses visitors with exotic music, Mexican-style aqua bars and air massage. The first water park in Zakarpattia Oblast is also located here.

● Craft wines – Transcarpathia is a traditional region of viticulture and winemaking in Ukraine. Transcarpathian winemaking culture is unique because it combines Hungarian, Italian and Austrian traditions. It was the result of this cultural fusion that gave such an interesting and colorful product as Transcarpathian wine.

The Château Chizai wine complex, which was founded in 1995 in the Chizai tract, near the city of Berehove, is quite popular here. Chateau Chizay is a modern production that was built from the ground up, but with attention to the local winemaking history. The winery makes wine exclusively from its Transcarpathian grapes, because it has 272 hectares of its own vineyards. Therefore, be sure to visit the tasting of this craft drink.
