Restrictions on cash withdrawals from ATMs have become a new feature of banking practice in Ukraine. This became relevant after the outbreak of a full-scale war in the country to avoid a shortage of cash at ATMs. This is evidenced by information from the National Bank of Ukraine.

In particular, each bank sets its own limits on the amount that can be withdrawn. 

We will tell you what restrictions on cash withdrawals are currently in effect at ATMs in Ukraine, as well as where you can withdraw funds, further in the article.

What are the cash withdrawal limits at Ukrainian ATMs?

At PrivatBank, the cash withdrawal limit is UAH 20 thousand at a time, and the next transaction can be made only after three hours. 

At Oschadbank ATMs, you can withdraw up to UAH 50 thousand per day, and the number of transactions is not limited, but the total daily limit remains unchanged. 

"Ukreximbank offers a withdrawal limit of 25 thousand hryvnias at a time, and Raiffeisen Bank has a limit of 20 thousand hryvnias per day. 

Raiffeisen Bank's cash withdrawal limit is UAH 20 thousand per day, while Ukrgasbank's is UAH 5,000 per day. The daily limit is UAH 20 thousand.

"Tascombank - UAH 10 thousand per day, Sens Bank - UAH 20 thousand per day, FUIB - UAH 20 thousand per day, Ukrsibbank - UAH 20 thousand per day, OTP Bank - UAH 10,000 per day. The number of transactions is not limited.

Universal Bank cash withdrawal limit - UAH 20,000 per day, Pivdenny Bank - UAH 10,000 per day. The daily limit is UAH 20 thousand.  "Kredobank - UAH 10 thousand at a time. The next time you can withdraw cash from an ATM is after 2 hours. 30 min.

Not at an ATM: where else can you withdraw cash?

Of course, besides ATMs, there are other ways to get cash, such as bank cash desks and bank branches. These may also have their own restrictions. It is worth noting that these restrictions may vary depending on the policy of each particular bank and economic conditions.

In addition to ATMs, cash can also be withdrawn from various stores, gas stations, and pharmacies.  For example, in ATB-Market, Silpo, Fora, Varus, Fozzy, Lotok, Trash!, and Tochka, you can withdraw up to UAH 6,000. In the Sim23 and EVA chains, this amount is UAH 2000, and in the NOVUS and Roshen chains, it is UAH 500.

Cash withdrawals of up to UAH 6,000 are also available at OKKO and WOG filling stations, up to UAH 5,000 at Ukrnafta filling stations, and UAH 500 at BRSM-Nafta filling stations. 

Some pharmacies also provide cash withdrawal services, for example, at Bila Romashka, Apteka ANC, Apteka 911, and MedService pharmacies, you can withdraw up to UAH 6,000. Additionally, cash can be withdrawn at Dobroho Dnia Pharmacy, Kopiyka Pharmacy, and Wholesale Prices Pharmacy, but the amounts are not specified.

Limits on transfers from a bank card 

In addition, banks have set limits for card-to-card money transfers, which apply to both the amount of transfers and the number of transactions. This is done to prevent fraud and money laundering. Each bank has its own restrictions, so it is important to familiarize yourself with your bank's rules before making money transfers.

Transfer limits in PrivatBank

At PrivatBank, the limits for transfers between individuals are set at different levels, depending on whether the client is receiving or sending money. However, regardless of this, you can transfer up to UAH 29,999 from card to card at a time.

In Ukraine, 200 transactions are allowed per month for an amount not exceeding UAH 1 million. As for international transfers, you can make no more than 20 transfers per month for a total amount not exceeding UAH 100,000.

The limits for the recipient of the money include up to 350 transactions in the amount of no more than UAH 1 million in Ukraine per month and up to 50 transfers in the amount of no more than UAH 399,999 abroad.

Limits for money transfers in Monobank

Monobank also regulates the limits on transfers between individuals. For example, up to UAH 60,000 can be transferred to a Ukrainian bank card in one transaction, with a limit on the number of transfers for different periods. For P2P transfers to foreign cards, you can transfer up to UAH 30 thousand in one transaction, but not less than USD 1, EUR 1, or UAH 1.

Transfers abroad via SWIFT are subject to the National Bank of Ukraine's limit for investments abroad, with a limit of EUR 200 thousand per calendar year.

How to withdraw funds from foreign cards in Ukraine?

First of all, it's important to know that most foreign cards, such as Visa or Mastercard, are widely accepted in Ukraine. 

Also, some of the banks that you will see in Ukraine are part of well-known regional or global brands that operate throughout the country. If you already use one of these banks, your account may allow you to withdraw funds at low or no cost if you use their ATMs. Otherwise, your local bank or ATM will likely charge you a fee.
