Renting a home in Poland is one of the most pressing issues for many Ukrainians who have found refuge in the country. In particular, there is currently a drop in apartment prices in many Polish cities, yavp.pl reports.

Renting an apartment in Poland: how rental prices have changed


According to the Otodom portal, in the spring of 2024, there was a decline in rental prices in some major cities in Poland. For example, compared to February of the same year, the average cost of renting an apartment of up to 40 square meters decreased by 1% in Krakow, Wroclaw, Szczecin, Poznan, and Gdynia. In Warsaw, the decline was 1.3%, and in Lublin it was more than 2%.


Over the year, the largest decline in rental prices was recorded in Łódź (-4.4%), Szczecin (-2.4%) and Wrocław (-2.2%). However, in some cities, rental prices for smaller apartments increased: in Lublin - by 5%, in Poznan - by 4%.


The average cost of renting apartments up to 40 square meters in the largest cities of Poland in March 2024 is as follows:


• Warsaw - PLN 2,917 (EUR 680);

• Gdansk - PLN 2,449 (EUR 571);

• Wroclaw - PLN 2,356 (EUR 549);

• Krakow - PLN 2,406 (EUR 561);

• Szczecin - PLN 2,047 (EUR 477);

• Lublin - PLN 2,022 (EUR 471);

• Poznan - PLN 1,995 (EUR 465);

• Łódź - PLN 1,701 (EUR 396);

• Bydgoszcz - PLN 1,625 (EUR 379);

• Katowice - 1 781 PLN (EUR 415).

How much does it cost to rent an apartment up to 60 square meters?


Rental prices for apartments with an area of 40 to 59 sq. m. in March 2024 decreased compared to February in cities such as Warsaw (-1.5%), Krakow (-0.3%), Poznan (-0.6%). However, in other major cities, rental prices increased.


The average rents for apartments ranging from 40 to 59 square meters in March 2024 were as follows:


• Warsaw - 3 795 PLN (EUR 885);

• Gdansk - 3 030 PLN (EUR 706);

• Wroclaw - PLN 2,921 (EUR 681);

• Krakow - PLN 3,037 (EUR 708);

• Szczecin - PLN 2,596 (EUR 605);

• Lublin - PLN 2,494 (EUR 581);

• Poznan - PLN 2,476 (EUR 577);

• Łódź - PLN 2,168 (EUR 505);

• Bydgoszcz - PLN 2,039 (EUR 475);

• Katowice - PLN 2,338 (EUR 545).


Renting an apartment from 60 to 89 square meters in Poland: price


Large apartments in Poland have also become more affordable for tenants. In March 2024, rental prices for apartments with an area of 60 to 89 sq. m. decreased compared to February in such cities as Warsaw (-2.5%), Krakow (-0.1%), Katowice (-1.8%) and Łódź (-2.2%). In other cities, the price drop remained unchanged.


The average rental prices for apartments ranging from 60 to 89 square meters in the largest cities of Poland in March 2024 were as follows:


• Warsaw - 5,718 PLN (EUR 1,334);

• Gdansk - PLN 4,308 (EUR 1,005);

• Wroclaw - 3,887 PLN (EUR 906);

• Krakow - 4,053 PLN (EUR 945);

• Szczecin - 3 357 PLN (EUR 783);

• Lublin - PLN 2,914 (EUR 679);

• Poznan - PLN 3,277 (EUR 764);

• Łódź - PLN 2,832 (EUR 660);

• Bydgoszcz - PLN 2,695 (EUR 628);

• Katowice - 3 175 PLN (EUR 740).
