Kyiv is a great city for cycling. That's why our managers have developed some great routes for you to enjoy the beauty and real gems of the capital. Stay with us and choose the best locations for your bike rides!

Route #1 - Trukhaniv

This is an optimal route for beginners, it contains a minimum number of ascents and a large number of descents. You will be able to get to know all the wonderful places and remote corners of Trukhaniv Island. Let's take a closer look at the main locations of this route.

Postal Square

Poshtova Square is one of the oldest squares in the capital and is the real gateway to Podil due to its location between the Upper and Lower Town. It is on Poshtova Square that the Church of the Nativity of Christ, the building of the old postal station, and the River Station are located.

Next to Poshtova Square you will find the Pedestrian Bridge leading to Trukhaniv Island, which is an ideal place for relaxing, sunbathing and cycling. Skateboarders and longboarders often gather on Poshtova Square, and you can also try bungee jumping here. Pleasure boats depart from the river piers, and in the warm season, the Bukhta food court with restaurants serving various cuisines is also open.

Pedestrian bridge

From this place you can enjoy an incredible view of Kyiv. It is the Volodymyrskyi Pedestrian Bridge that connects Khreshchatyi Park and Volodymyrska Hill. Here you can see the Friendship of Peoples Arch, Volodymyr's Hill, the monument to Prince Volodymyr, the funicular, St. Andrew's Descent, St. Michael's Golden-Domed Cathedral, and many other wonderful places in our capital.

Glass railings and transparent pavement areas are an original design technique that turned the building into a popular insta-location. Every day, thousands of visitors take pictures on the glass "windows" in the floor.

Dniprovska embankment

This place is a real pride and business card of the city, because the embankment is the longest in Europe! The Dnipro embankment, which is 20 km long, is a favorite place for Kyiv residents and visitors to promenade.

Here you can see the White Swan light and music fountain, the glass Ball of Desires, the Dnipro Circus, and a 50-meter-long family bench. The Dnipro embankment is decorated with a green boulevard and fountains, and there are many restaurants, bars, cafes, attractions, and entertainment complexes along it. From this place you can admire the magnificent panorama of Monastyrskyi Island and the Merefo-Kherson Bridge, as well as see the artificial waterfall "Roaring Threshold".

Trukhaniv Island

Trukhaniv Island on the Dnipro River has a huge number of asphalt paths and dirt trails, so it has long been a favorite location for cyclists. Before the Second World War, it was home to the village of Vodnykiv, which was constantly flooded during floods. But during the war, the village was burned to the ground, and eventually a recreation area was arranged on the island.

On Trukhaniv Island, you can have a great time on the Central Beach, visit playgrounds for various sports, rental shops, or recreational and entertainment complexes. Trukhaniv Island is well landscaped and has unique vegetation.

Trukhaniv Trail

The Trukhaniv Trail is a new route for active recreation, where you can go jogging, Nordic walking or cycling. Thanks to this route, you will be able to discover Trukhaniv Island from a new perspective and enjoy a suburban active vacation almost in the very center of the capital.

The route has 2 starting points: near the Pedestrian or Northern Bridge. The length of the "yellow" route is more than 11 kilometers, the "blue" route is 8.7 kilometers. Along the route, you will see public restrooms, medical aid stations and municipal security at the start and finish.

Route #2 - Holosiivo

Holosiivskyi Park has a huge area, which is why it is often called a forest. However, this park is actually part of a forest that stretches from Pirogovo to Korchuvate. For cyclists, there are numerous asphalt paths on the slopes and hills, paths on the cliffs, and even obstacle courses for cyclocross. Let's take a closer look at the main locations of this bike route.

Exhibition Center metro station

If you want to spend an active day, see something new and just have fun, you definitely need to go to the Exhibition Center, where the summer season is in full swing!

The exhibition center was originally intended to demonstrate the country's postwar successes and economic achievements. But in independent Ukraine, the concept has changed, so the center has an innovative and cultural character.

There are more than 20 locations at this place, so it's a great starting point for your trip!

VDNH

VDNG is a huge territory that used to serve as an exhibition center. Now it regularly hosts exhibitions, thematic conferences, and even festivals. All pavilions are decorated in an individual architectural style.

There are 180 buildings on the territory of VDNKh, which form the only architectural ensemble in Ukraine and Europe that uses all traditional orders and styles. VDNKh's forest and park area covers about 200 hectares of the Expocenter and is one of the largest recreational areas in Kyiv. It is also home to the Horse Complex, a zoo, a dinosaur park, and the Museum of Science. In 2021, an Urban Park was opened here for street sports, dancing, workout and parkour.

VDNG is completely covered with asphalt, which is great for road bikes. Here you will find many places to relax or have lunch, and on hot summer days you can even take a refreshing dip in the pool. There are many bike rental services on the territory and nearby, as well as other vehicles such as gyroboards and drift cars.

Holosiivskyi Park

Holosiivskyi Forest used to be a dense place that few people chose to walk alone. However, now there are a large number of hiking trails here, and cyclists have fallen in love with the area. The Covid-19 pandemic has also contributed to this, forcing citizens to isolate themselves from large crowds in nature. You can enter Holosiivskyi Park from completely different directions and wander along various routes.

Kitayevo

Kitayevo is a wonderful and interesting historical area on the southern outskirts of Kyiv, bordering the Korchuvate historic district. Here you will find a cascade of picturesque ponds called the Kitayevsky Ponds. The natural landscapes will allow you to relax from the city noise and enjoy the tranquility of nature in the fresh air.

At all times, Kitaevo was known for its rich gardens. Even today, lush berry bushes and fruit trees have been preserved here. While walking here, you can enjoy the dense forest and sit by the local ponds. First of all, the area is known for its man-made caves in the Kitaevsky tract.

Pirogovo

The National Museum of Folk Architecture and Life of Ukraine, popularly known as Pirogovo, is definitely worth your time and attention. It is the largest open-air museum in Europe, covering more than 133 hectares of land.

The area is densely covered with vegetation, so you can enjoy cycling in the shade of large trees. You can have a picnic on one of the lawns with gazebos. This is an ideal place for mountain bikers, as the 6.4 km long route runs over rough terrain.

We remind you! Despite the ongoing hostilities, many Ukrainians are planning to travel to reboot and gain strength. Read more about where Ukrainians will spend their summer vacation and what priorities they prioritize when choosing a vacation destination in 2024.
