Which German states are accepting Ukrainians in August 2024: up-to-date information on the camps

At the moment, there is a significant number of migrants from Ukrainian lands on the territory of Germany. Since it is not possible to resettle them in any city of the country, a list of regions where it is possible to receive citizens from Ukraine has been created. Read the current information about the so-called "camps for displaced persons" as of August 2024 in the material.

Currently, Germany is the country that hosts the largest number of Ukrainian immigrants. As a result of overloading with migrants, the state has allocated several regions (and in them – camps) that accept Ukrainians. Each of them has its own characteristics, and re-registration at your own will is practically impossible (except for a few reasons). Accordingly, you need to carefully consider the available options in order to choose the most comfortable conditions for yourself.

Camp for displaced persons and the basic conditions of its operation

"Camp for displaced persons" is a reception point for refugees. It is here that they decide which region of Germany to send the immigrants to, and it is impossible to predict this in advance. Ukrainians usually stay in the region to which they arrived at the "reception point". However, when there is no accommodation available, the person may be referred to another region.

You can choose a camp only when entering - there is no special difference between them. It is necessary to remember that the camp is chosen only once - it is not possible to change the choice after registration!

The resettled person is obliged to live in the territory for which he is fixed, and a special document and valid reasons are required for moving. These include:

– employment in the territory of relocation;

– marriage;

- maintenance of minor children.

Importantly! IDP camps are open 24/7.

Which "camps" will receive Ukrainian immigrants in August 2024?

Aden-Württemberg - Baden-Württemberg

Baden-Württemberg is one of the most popular reception points, but at the moment it is not worth counting on staying there. There are no places for immigrants, so the automated system will allocate you to another region. Most likely, it will be Bavaria, Rhineland-Palatinate or Hesse.

1. Karlsruhe

Address: Durlacher Allee 100, 76137 Karlsruhe. Currently open, but distributing to other regions. From January 2024, it accepts everyone who drives their own car. The following are among the features:

- the car must be parked outside the reception point;

- you cannot bring animals larger than a cat.

2. Meßstetten

Address: Geißbühlstraße 51, 72469 Meßstetten). Open, but distributes to other federal states due to lack of places. Features of the reception point:

- it is difficult to reach by public transport;

- reception with domestic animals is prohibited;

WARNING! On September 13, 2024, the point will be closed for reception!

3. Freiburg

Address: Basler Landstraße 16, 79111 Freiburg. Open, but often distributes to other federal lands. It has the following features:

- does not accept persons in need of special medical care;

- accepts small pets that must stay with their owners at all times (dogs must be on a leash).

WARNING! On September 30, 2024, the point will stop accepting Ukrainians!

We will remind that a simplified mechanism for re-registration of cars from Ukraine is currently being developed in Germany. This will significantly speed up the procedure and reduce the level of violations of German legislation among Ukrainians. You can read more here.

Bavaria - Bavaria

Reception point at the address: str. Dachauer 122a, 80637, Munich

The pick-up point is not recommended for pet owners. Currently, the shelter does not accept migrants with domestic animals, and shelters in the region are full.

Earlier we wrote that in Germany the conditions for the payment of unemployment benefits, which Ukrainian refugees receive, have been changed. Requirements for recipients of payments have also changed. Read more in the material.

Berlin - Berlin

Tegel (Old Airport)

For car owners: leave your car in the parking lot and get on bus P3 in front of building 109.

For those arriving by public transport: trains from Eastern Europe arrive at Berlin-Gesundbrunnen station; from there you need to take the city train to the Berlin-Jungfernheide station; the bus to the pick-up point departs from this station and stops at Olberstraße / Gallesteig.

All data on the reception point "Tegel" can be obtained from the link or contact the help group of the point in Telegram.

Germany is currently the leader in the number of accepted Ukrainian refugees. Currently, there are more than a million of them. Read more about which German lands have accepted the most Ukrainians here.
