For decades, Ukraine has been known as the cultural centre of Eastern Europe. Everything changed on 24 February 2024. On the morning of this day, the world learned that the centre of ancient traditions was being destroyed every minute, that Ukrainians were dying every minute, and that they were risking their lives to defend their land. Independence Day has long ceased to be the birthday of the state, and now it is a symbol of struggle and steadfastness. Many foreigners try to visit our country in August to touch the history of Ukraine, and with it Europe, which is happening right before their eyes. The list of tours that foreigners should visit in August is provided in the article.

Tour "Kyiv region + Chernihiv"

We offer you a unique tour of the cities destroyed by armed aggression and partially rebuilt by the residents. Bucha, Irpin, Gostomel - after their liberation, the whole world saw the horrors of war. Then we realised again that the struggle for independence did not end in 1991. The tour includes visits to the main sights of Kyiv and Chernihiv. What makes the trip unique is that the cities were built on the site of ancient settlements - Poles and Northerners who lived here more than 1500 years ago!
By choosing this tour, you will be able to join the reconstruction (the profits from the tour will go to the development and restoration of the cities after the occupation) and demonstrate to the whole world the consequences of the war in Ukraine - we need to see and know in order to prevent the return of war to these lands in the future!

By choosing this tour, you will be able to join the reconstruction (the profits from the tour will go to the development and restoration of the cities after the occupation) and demonstrate to the whole world the consequences of the war in Ukraine - we need to see and know in order to prevent the return of war to these lands in the future!

Everyone can also book a separate tour of Chernihiv, the capital of the ancient Sivershchyna. You can do it here.

Tour of the de-occupied cities

The tour includes visits to four de-occupied settlements in the Kyiv region: the village of Romanivka, the cities of Irpin, Bucha and Gostomel. VisitUkraine provides support for foreigners (the guide is fluent in Ukrainian and English) and a transfer along the route.

The frontline passed through Romanivka in March 2022. It is here that the legendary crossing under the blown-up bridge is located, through which residents evacuated the occupied territory on foot.
In the Hero City of Irpin, the main tourist attraction is the cemetery of equipment that was destroyed during the battles for the territory. There are still positions here that changed hands in 2022.
Bucha is actually the most morally exhausting stage of the tour route. There is also Yabluneva Street, where horrific footage was taken after the liberation, and the Church of the Holy Apostle Andrew the First-Called and All Saints of the OCU, where a mass burial of shot Ukrainian citizens was arranged.
There is a sightseeing tour of Gostomel, where the legendary Ukrainian Mriya aircraft is located.

More tours of the de-occupied cities of Ukraine can be found here.

Combined tour "Kyiv + guided tour of the de-occupied cities"

The tour lasts for 4 days and includes a walking tour of Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, and visits to the de-occupied cities in the Kyiv region (Bucha, Irpin, and Gostomel).

ATTENTION! Photo and video recording of the military, military facilities and checkpoints is strictly prohibited!

The tour provides a lot of free time for foreigners, so they can make their own itinerary at their own leisure. You can visit Independence Square and Khreshchatyk, St Andrew's Descent, Golden Gate, Park Bridge, Jellyfish Museum, Samson Fountain, St Sophia's Square and Kyiv Funicular.

We would like to remind you that the proceeds from press tours are donated to the reconstruction of Ukraine.

Our experts told you more about military tourism in our previous article (which contains all the necessary information for foreigners who want to visit Ukraine).

Museum of the Great Patriotic War in Kyiv

The museum covers a large area near the Motherland statue, including the grounds and the museum complex. The museum has a collection of orders, medals and certificates, documentary evidence of eyewitnesses, etc. The ground part of the museum covers a fairly large area. Tourists can see tanks of various types, a fighter jet, one of the armoured train cars, cannons and a warship. So this tour is recommended for fans of both history and technology. The experience will be truly unforgettable!

The tour is unique - it was created especially for foreign tourists!

Thetop of the most unusual museums can be found here.

Tour "Kyiv is invincible"

VisitUkraine offers foreign tourists a tour of the capital of Ukraine - ancient Kyiv, which combines history and modernity. Ancient churches are next to modern high-rise buildings, and "young" cafes and bookstores are located near historic buildings. The architecture and cultural heritage of the capital eloquently point to the antiquity and glorious past of the Ukrainian people!

You will be able to see the Golden Gate, which served as the city gate more than a thousand years ago, St Sophia of Kyiv, the date of construction of which is still debated by historians, St Michael's Cathedral - tourists say that when you look at it from the bottom up, you feel dizzy. Visitors to the capital will be able to travel across the Glass Bridge or climb the monument to Vladimir the Great, one of the most famous princes of Kievan Rus.
