US presidential candidate Kamala Harris has announced that Tim Walz will become her partner (vice-president) if she wins the election. We tell you who he is and what views he holds on Ukraine.

Who is Tim Walz?

Volz grew up in an ordinary American family in rural Nebraska. As a teenager, he joined the National Guard, where he served as a volunteer for 24 years.

After that, up to 2006, the politician worked as a teacher and coach, after he failed to defeat the incumbent Republican congressman in the elections to Congress from the Democrats. In his position he remained until 2018, until he became governor of Minnesota.

By the way, in February 2024, Minnesota under Volz's leadership established a special relationship with the Chernihiv region of Ukraine.

How does Volz feel about Ukraine?

Preliminarily, given the politician's statements, Volz holds the same position as most leading Democratic Party politicians: aid to Ukraine must continue.

Following the outbreak of full-scale war in Ukraine, Walz signed an executive order demanding that government agencies sever existing contracts with Russian companies and refrain from future contracts with Russian companies.

The Minnesota governor has even met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky before, but that meeting was virtual. It took place in April 2023.

On the eve of the second anniversary of the russian invasion, Tim Walz wrote: "Minnesota will continue to support Ukraine as it defends freedom and democracy. I visited the Ukrainian Embassy to establish a formal partnership between the public, private and academic sectors of Minnesota and Chernihiv region, strengthening our state's ties to Ukraine."

We remind you! Kamala Harris has become the new hope of the Democrats in the election race for President of the United States. Whether she can win and what her chances are, as well as how Harris feels about Ukraine and what it may mean for her campaign, read at the link.
