The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry plans to launch the e-Consul information and communication system, which will make the agency's services more accessible to Ukrainians abroad. We tell you what this system is and how it is supposed to work.

The decision to launch the system was made by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. ‘e-Consul’ is already being tested.

‘Foreign Ministry specialists are already working to implement them as soon as possible. The modernised e-Consul system will make MFA services more accessible‘ and faster for more Ukrainian citizens abroad,’ Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said.

The e-Consul system: what is it for?

According to Kuleba, some consular actions will be completely online and it will not even be necessary to go to the consular department.

And other services will be much faster and easier because documents will be pulled from state registers automatically.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already created a digital platform on which they are testing in closed mode the updated electronic queue, electronic offices of the applicant and consul, automated pilot services in the field of notary public, registration of certificates, etc.

When will the e-Consul system work?

The system is expected to be operational this year. It is currently undergoing the necessary security checks, testing for vulnerabilities, strength of data encryption algorithms and resistance to peak loads.

The Foreign Ministry says it plans to increase the pace of digitalisation of the consular sphere next year. In particular, they want to increase the share of remote services, integrate online payments, shearing of documents in Action, etc.

We remind you! New rules of entry to the European Union will work already this autumn. The system will affect 700 million travellers annually. How it will affect tourism and what you need to know about the EES system, we tell you here.
