● Hull insurance. This type of insurance covers damage to your own car as a result of various events, such as an accident, theft, fire, natural disasters, etc.
● Life and health insurance for the driver and passengers. This type of insurance provides for compensation in case of injury or death of the driver or passengers as a result of an accident.
● Accident insurance. This type of insurance covers medical expenses related to the treatment of injuries sustained in an accident.
● Auto glass insurance. This type of insurance covers the cost of repairing or replacing the windscreen or side windows of a car.

Do Ukrainians need to take out local car insurance in Romania?

RCA is mandatory for Ukrainians who have re-registered their cars and received Romanian number plates or purchased a new car in Romania.

However, drivers who continue to drive legally on Romanian roads with cars with Ukrainian licence plates are not required to obtain an RCA.

In turn, drivers of such cars are required to have a valid Green Card insurance policy.

The Green Card is an international insurance policy for motorists. If you have ever driven your own car out of Ukraine, you know that this policy is mandatory for crossing the border. However, it is also valid on the territory of Romania. The main thing is to keep track of the policy's validity and renew it in time.

If you have a valid Green Card insurance policy, you do not need to take out additional Romanian insurance. Remember that the Green Card is valid not only in Romania and Ukraine, but also in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East, so you will be under reliable insurance protection even when travelling to other countries.

How to buy a Green Card online?

You can buy a Green Card for a car with Ukrainian registration both abroad and in Ukraine. However, insurance abroad will cost much more.

Therefore, it is better to buy insurance online, as it is quick and easy. On the Visit Ukraine portal, you can take out a Green Card policy from a licensed insurer. The calculator allows you to calculate the exact price of the policy individually for your vehicle. Packages are available for different periods from 15 days to 1 year for cars and trucks, trailers and semi-trailers for trucks, as well as motorcycles and scooters.

Just a reminder! If you are planning to drive from Ukraine to Romania by your own car, you should familiarise yourself with the country's rules in advance. Read more about border crossing, convenient routes from Ukraine to Romania and traffic rules here.
