Some British citizens who take in Ukrainian refugees in their homes can expect financial support from the government, the BBC reports.

Who will be paid for hosting refugees?

It is only the residents of the city of Elmbridge who provide asylum to refugees from Ukraine.

This initiative is focused on helping families or individuals who are already in Elmbridge but are forced to change their place of residence due to the end of the hospitality period with their previous hosts.

How much will the British receive?

According to Ginny Tweedy, co-director of the charity Elmbridge CAN, this financial support is important because of the rising costs of running households.

The local authorities intend to pay such people £600 per month.

At the same time, the charity notes that the hosts accept Ukrainians not for money, but because of a sincere desire to help.

Since the programme was launched in March 2022, more than 300 households in the area have hosted about 600 Ukrainians.

When preparing to move or travel abroad, we recommend that you contact migration lawyers who can help you choose a country, living conditions and collect the necessary documents.

We remind you! Starting in 2025, those wishing to come to the UK will have to pay a special fee - this applies even to European residents.
