Ukraine and Denmark have officially announced the introduction of a fast-track mechanism that opens up new opportunities for rapidly attracting foreign capital. Learn more about the initiative and what it aims to achieve
On November 25, 2024, the Danish-Ukrainian Business Forum was held in Kyiv, where an important Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the governments of Ukraine and Denmark. The document lays the groundwork for the launch of a fast-track mechanism for investment, which aims to simplify the business environment, remove market barriers and stimulate the inflow of foreign capital to Ukraine.
Fast-track mechanism: what is it and how will it work?
Fast-track is a special support system for foreign investors that will allow them to
• quickly overcome administrative and regulatory obstacles;
• create an effective communication channel between the governments of Ukraine and Denmark;
• help companies quickly resolve issues related to business activities.
The mechanism will become a single entry point for Danish companies and investors interested in the Ukrainian market.
"Ukraine needs to increase private investment to quickly restore its economy. The launch of the fast-track will strengthen ties between businesses of both countries and help improve the investment climate in Ukraine ,” said Yulia Svyrydenko, First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Economy.
Supporting Danish business: a priority for cooperation
Denmark actively supports Ukraine despite the difficulties of wartime. According to Morten Bedskou, Minister of Enterprise of Denmark, Danish companies are ready to invest in such strategic sectors as
• green energy
• development of new technologies;
• strengthening critical infrastructure.
The signed memorandum is a continuation of the agreements reached in April 2024. Back then, Denmark allocated EUR 40 million to the EIFO investment fund and another EUR 380 million to support Ukraine's critical infrastructure.
During the forum, which was attended by representatives of about a hundred Ukrainian and Danish companies, the parties discussed the prospects for establishing joint ventures and localizing Danish production in Ukraine.
The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on the fast-track mechanism is an important step in deepening cooperation between Ukraine and Denmark. It creates favorable conditions for business, stimulates the recovery of the Ukrainian economy and strengthens Ukraine's position as a reliable partner on the global stage.
