● if I have lost my protection status, how can I restore it OR how can I prepare a justification for my absence from the country in advance in order to restore my temporary protection status?

How to avoid losing temporary protection when leaving Poland?

Good afternoon! Your question concerns the preservation of temporary protection status when leaving Poland, as well as the possibilities of its restoration in case of loss. Let's take a closer look at all aspects.

1. Will you lose your temporary protection status upon departure?

According to Polish law (implemented on the basis of EU Directive 2001/55/EC), temporary protection status (including PESEL with UKR status) is granted to Ukrainians staying in Poland due to the war in Ukraine.

Key point: If you leave Poland for more than 30 days, your temporary protection status may be revoked. Even if you are under protection, a prolonged absence from the country may be considered a reason for losing this status.

A scenario with short returns (2 days) between 29-day departures can theoretically help to avoid losing your status, as the actual absence from the country does not exceed 30 days. But it is important to keep in mind that:

● Each new departure must be officially recorded.

● The authorities may consider such actions as an abuse of the right to temporary protection.

2. How to prepare for departure in order not to lose your status?

You can go to the nearest Urząd Wojewódzki (voivodeship office) dealing with temporary protection and submit an application explaining the reasons for leaving. In the application, please indicate:

● The reason for the absence (e.g. family circumstances, medical treatment or work).

● The estimated duration of your absence.

1. Return to Poland:

You need to return to the territory of Poland.

2. Applying to the Urząd Wojewódzki:
