With the New Year holidays approaching, many Ukrainians are wondering whether a curfew will be in effect on the night of 31 December 2024 to 1 January 2025. As martial law is still in place in the country, certain restrictions, including curfews, remain in place.

Curfew in Kyiv

Despite the New Year celebrations, there are no plans to lift or reduce the curfew in the Ukrainian capital. According to official information, restrictions on movement will be in effect from 00:00 to 5:00 am, as on normal days.

KCSA spokesman Mykhailo Shamanov said: ‘The curfew for the New Year and holidays will not be changed. As always, security services, including National Police patrols and defence forces, will work in a reinforced mode. There will be no public celebrations.’

During this period, it is forbidden to be on the streets, in parks and other public places without a special permit. The only exception is for moving to a shelter during an air raid. Every citizen must have an identity card.

Where will there be no curfew on New Year's Eve?

The Zakarpattia region remains an exception compared to other regions of Ukraine.

No curfew has been imposed here since the beginning of the war, as the local authorities consider this measure inappropriate to ensure security. Thus, residents and guests of the region will be able to celebrate the New Year without restrictions on movement.

The Zakarpattia region and other western regions of Ukraine are a great place to spend the New Year holidays. You can find many offers for New Year's holidays on the Visit Ukraine portal.

We remind you! Ukrzaliznytsia has scheduled additional trains for the Christmas and New Year holidays.
