What products can be exported from Ukraine abroad: important details
When Ukrainians return home after the holidays, they want to bring as many homemade delicacies as possible. However, it is important to remember the rules of customs control. Find out more about what food products can be exported abroad
Knowing the rules for transporting food is important when planning a trip abroad. This will help you avoid fines or confiscation at customs. According to Ukraine's current legislation, food exports are allowed if they are intended for personal use and do not exceed the established limits. In addition, there is a certain list of products that are completely prohibited from being transported across the border. We will tell you more about this in today's article.
In the previous article, we talked about the rules for crossing the border and the list of necessary documents for the successful entry of foreign citizens into Ukraine.
Rules for transportation of Ukrainian products across the border
It is important to remember that it is allowed to transport across the border ready-made meals in the amount of no more than 2 kilograms per person.
The following products can be exported abroad in limited quantities:
- Caviar - 125 grams per person;
- Fresh vegetables and fruits - 5 kg (except for potatoes);
- Baby food - up to 2 kg;
- Fish products (fish must first be cleaned from the insides) - up to 20 kg;
- Chocolate - a few bars;
- Honey - up to 2 kg;
- Coffee - up to 500 grams;

What products are strictly prohibited for transportation abroad?
Transportation of milk, cheese, fermented milk products, and canned dairy products is prohibited.
Fresh meat, sausages, frankfurters, lard, and any other meat products may also be confiscated at the border. Transportation of home or store-bought canned meat products is prohibited.
Is it possible to transport twists across the border?
There is no direct ban on the transportation of home-canned food. However, the final decision is made by customs officers at the checkpoint. Jars with twists and turns can arouse suspicion, which can lead to confiscation of the products, even if they do not contain any prohibited items.
To avoid complications, we do not recommend taking home canned food abroad. A great alternative is to pack it in food containers. This will significantly reduce the likelihood of confiscation at customs.
It is important to keep in mind that when traveling abroad in your own car, the Ukrainian MTPL policy is not valid. A Green Card is a prerequisite for obtaining insurance.
