The village of Yablunytsia is located in the Polianytsia rural community of the Nadvirna district of Ivano-Frankivsk region. Its population is 1986 people. The village area is relatively small - 4 square kilometres. A small river Yablunka flows nearby, and the Renegiv stream originates in the south-west. The Yablunytsia Pass, which divides Zakarpattia and Ivano-Frankivsk regions, is also located here. The village itself is located within the Carpathian National Nature Park.

What is Yablunytsia famous for?

Yablunytsia is a record-breaking village. On 28 May 2019, the largest wooden Trident was erected here at the initiative of the Polonyny Pertsi art space, which works to revive Hutsul traditions. Its height is 15 metres, which is a record for Ukraine.

It was also the birthplace of Taras Marusyk, a Ukrainian journalist and language policy expert, founder and editor-in-chief of the Nova Myslia online project.
